Are we Cursed because of Abortion?

If you have been a Christian for very long you will have heard people say that if God doesn't judge the USA for abortion He will have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah.

A few said that the 9-11 attacks were that judgment. I'm not convinced.

This morning in that half asleep awake time I had a sense that we are seeing Judgement on this country. It's not economic. That according to the word of the Lord will pass. It's not weather or storms. They are part of the natural events of the world. It's not sickness and disease.

There is a judgement that is come on the earth. A judgement that we have brought on ourselves. A judgement most felt in the USA. It's a judgement of division. Raw sickening split.

We are a divided nation. Divided we will fall. The fault line over which the division runs one of adherence and respect for a core Judeo Christian ethic that half of the nation does not respect. It is shown most perfectly in the attitude towards abortion. It reflects in our political season. It's a matter of world view.

Those who see things as outlined in the Words of God and those who see things according to their own reason. That is the split. Twenty five years ago I was out to dinner with an old friend, a pastor. We were quietly talking about the things of God at this restaurant. It was a rich conversation. Near us was another group of people. Perhaps they had too much to drink, but they verbally attacked us for being religious fanatics. This was a restaurant, not a bar.

I had never encountered open hostility to the things of God before. We weren't preaching to them. We weren't loud. Just the mention of HIS name offended them. That was for me the first time that I saw out and out Spiritual Bigotry.

I shared this story with a friend. He asked me if I told them to get saved. He was joking. I was surprised. That's not my style. I'm overt and public in my Christianity, you don't have to hang around me very long before you see me for who I am. I don't have a fish on my car. Won't.

The curse of division in the USA may well have the same outcome as the curse of division had on the Kingdom David and his son Solomon experienced in history.

Eventually bad kings, the worst being King Ahab and Jezebel his wife, let the nations to such a state where invaders destroyed them and led them into captivity.

That's what division does. We may be seeing a replay of this tragic history. A kingdom great in origin has been divided by an Antichrist secular satanic spirit manifesting itself most directly in rejection of Judeo Christian worldviews and the national sin of abortion.

I am NOT prophesying this directly. I am telling you that God brought this all to my mind early this morning. He may yet spare this country and it's people if they will turn back to him and repent.

The words of Jesus in Matthew 23:35-36 make chills run up my spine.
35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

If he judged those of his day severely and in the same passage prophesied the Titus Andronicus invasion of 71 AD that totally destroyed Jerusalem, how much more must the blood of the innocents be on our hands calling up to the throne today. Maybe the blood of the martyrs is already before the throne. The children are being martyred and now are dressed in White?

I don't know for sure, I'm just reporting what came over me this morning. The judgement of division leads to destruction. Are we being Judged?

We have become the Divided States of America. No longer United.

Is that a curse? A Judgement? Is it too late?

Wow Gene.
You are getting on it, but you need to press in further. (Have a look at the questions that I will be posting tomorrow).

I doubt that abortion is the reason for the judgment. Abortion is not a legal issue, but a spiritual issue. What has happened to the American spirit that so many young women feel compelled to destroy their future (their children). Abortion is just one manifestation of an impaired national spirit. The task of the prophets is not to make abortion illegal, because banning abortion will not change that spirit. The prophetic task is to expose the cracks in the nations’s spirit that is manifesting in abortion. The solution is not laws against abortion, but repentance and deep healing from God.

I doubt that division is the sin that is bringing judgement. It is true that a house divided cannot stand, but division never the root cause. Division is just a symptom of a far deeper issue that needs to be exposed by the prophets.
