Mammon, a vicious Virus
Not long ago the Lord taught me a lesson through a vision He showed me. In the vision I saw that some people were buying their way to escape a certain trap or trouble through some diabolical, dubious and questionable means of wealth creation. It seemed to be working and they all seemed to be ‘making it’ and were actually attributing their success to God’s power! They were celebrating their ‘breakthrough’ in the name of the Lord. This vision challenged my spirit and made me to begin to seek for God’s intervention. Obviously, spiritual discernment is fast disappearing today in the modern Church. That’s a big problem indeed.
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? (Psalm 130:3).
You see, Mammon of unrighteousness has virtually infiltrated and fastened itself onto every facet of the Church and society. As a result, innocent persons are hard to find because the children of darkness already taking over the altar of righteousness. Unclean money and blood wealth are being brought into God’s sanctuary. Satan and his cohorts are stylishly creeping into and defiling the holy place. No wonder, the Bible asks if anyone shall stand should God mark iniquity. This particular question is rhetorical and the answer is “None”!
Hence, those who choose to be holy and pure make themselves appear foolish, odious and bizarre before a perverted generation. The entrance of mammon has made, even supposed preachers of righteousness to begin to derive ‘current interpretations/explanation’ for Scriptures. They have mellowed down the tone of the message they used to preach and have taken sides with the lying forces of hell. Those things that were once strange and condemned have become commonplace among God’s children today. Why? There is no standard of holiness and true leaders are scarce. Tragic, isn’t it?
What do you say concerning a notorious fraudster who later comes into a local Church, claiming to be ‘born again’ and ready to support missions and Church projects? How will you rate such a man who now sees Church as an escape route or insurance against God’s judgment? Why do pastors today make men feel comfortable in sin when there is actually no place for them in heaven? To what extent are God’s servants ready to stand for the truth, even when it leads to a sort of financial loss or disadvantage?
Furthermore, how do you describe a scenario in which a young promiscuous high society lady who has made much money by sleeping with different wealthy men and now coming into a Church and apparently ‘born again’, but still trying to be loyal to just one of the men who have been providing for her. This lady now comes to a local pastor who looks forward to finances for meeting ministry needs and is willing to keep receiving tithes and offerings from this prostitute. Whereas what the pastor ought to do is to guide her to COMPLETELY disengage from immorality. Will this pastor be able to truly help such a poor lady, unless he is indeed circumcised in heart? Only a man of integrity will have the courage to stand for the truth at all times.
Besides, how will servants of God be able to account for all the filthy money that has been brought into divine service? Will the righteous God condone any form of spiritual perversion? Will our Father not judge all those who only use His name as a cloak for covetousness? Isn’t it better now to boldly declare the truth of God than to never do? Should God’s ministers not be able to boldly confront Church members when they discover their questionable character and financial impropriety? If you hate the truth and don’t wish to be taught in the way of righteousness, you have no business in Church; you are only wasting your time. Those who will receive the Word of God with meekness must first depart from all filthiness and unrighteousness.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls (James 1:21).
The altar must be sanctified and the children of Light must distinguish themselves. Let us stand up and be counted. This is the best time to walk in the truth without hesitation. Are you ready? How then does God want us to handle money matters? What is the right attitude we should have towards it?
