Your future is in your heart, mind and mouth

As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," Proverbs 23:7

...out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Matthew 12:34

...if you say to this mountain, .... it will happen. Matthew 21:21

I have been in Pentecost for most of my adult life. I have heard hundreds of preachers. Many who have propounded the name it and claim it theology that has been disdained by many.

The problem like all theological principles is not that it's wrong out of hand, but that it's not comprehended. Many people want what positive confession can bring, but it requires a spiritual condition to grasp it: The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

This morning I was impressed of the Lord to give what he showed me overnight.

WHAT YOU SAY IS LESS IMPORTANT THAN WHY YOU SAID IT
AND WHERE THAT CAME FROM

I know and you know people who have a picture of a new car, new home or something they want on their fridge or on their bathroom mirror. Maybe you do too. I know people who will never allow any negative thing to emerge from their mouth without prompt vehement repentance and rejection of that faithless word. Somehow they believe they may have a curse on them by a careless word. Job is the example often given. It's taught that he confessed, he feared and therefore was cursed by God. Baloney. Sorry for the big theological word. BUT any others would require representations -- %$#%$*^%$. It's just not true.

You and I are a sponge spiritually. Whatever you put in comes out when you are squeezed. If a person under pressure begins to act in a vile manner, it was in there all the time. If a person under pressure finds themselves trusting God more and acting in a Godly manner under pressure, it was in there. You can't get out what wasn't in there all the time.

But what of those things we desire? Whatever we maintain our focus on is what we will get. It's a tough truth to face up to. It's easy to act all Holy and say, "I'm keeping MY FOCUS on Jesus". Yet there is so much that distracts and fills our minds other than HIM. Sports, Business, Politics, Glamor, Entertainment, Facebook-Blogging, Movies (One I frankly don't get), TV, video games, gossip, music (even some "christian music), fame and yes even churchianity can fill places in our lives, spirits and brains with so much gobbledygook that it shapes our future.

We become what we think about and then speak about. Our future is in our mouth. What comes out of our mouth is what is in our heart. What we place in our heart will change everything in our lives. Our motives. Our intentions. INTENTIONS? Even if you never intend on committing adultery if you watch enough on TV it can become your intention. Even if you never commit a violent act, if you see enough movies with mayhem as your best friend you may have an intention hidden.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12 NLT

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 NASB

As we approach 2011 we want to see a shift, a change for the better, a new direction; we must begin by taking MORE CARE on what we watch, hear, see. What you populate your mind with will be first in line to become your words and intentions. That will then create your future. I suspect if you were fair, you might say, there is much there that shouldn't be. What is there is polluting your spirit.

The children's song applies: (read the whole text of the song, it's meaningful)
O be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little hands what you do
O be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little mouth what you say

IF your future is in your mouth, IF you speak out of what you have placed in your heart, IF you can move mountains with the Word of God in your mouth, then at the least we must be careful what we allow IN.

Yet spiritually many use the Diet Coke offset theory. You know what it is. You've done it and so have I. You consume a big candy bar but drink a diet coke to offset the calories. Or wash down a Krispy Kream donut with coffee and sweet and low in the belief that the bad is somehow displaced by the good.

It doesn't work that way in the physical and won't work in the spiritual. The word of God is NOT spiritual Diet Coke. If you are watching things that pollute your spirit and then wash it down with a little Bible reading, that's about the same.

It's time to go on a diet from those polluting things that are fat cells in your brain. I say this to ME. In the months and year to come, I vow to be much more careful what I allow in my brain. Not to sit aimlessly in front of the TV or Computer and take whatever comes my way like a huge bag of potato chips with a diet coke.

My future is hidden in my heart, I am filling my heart and it forms what I say and when I say it, and as I do things will change. So, if you want change, start by watching what you are placing in your heart and meditating on.

Now let's get out there and start watching little eyes what we see.

AND THAT is the Word of the Lord for someone this morning.
