Teaching doesn't set people free, Revelation does.
You can be shown, be told, instructed, given, read, hear or even PREACH truth and still be in bondage.
Being taught without ears to hear (the ability to have the Spirit of God convert truth into revelation) is a vain exercise too many engage in knowledge collecting without revelation of how it can change their lives.
Paul in 1 Corinthians 8:1-2 speaks to this: "We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know."
Sometimes the rush to be deep keeps people from receiving revelation. Sometimes the desire to appear intelligent causes teachers of the word to twist scripture to say things that in fact become stumbling blocks. People develop pet theologies and they become salesmen for those theologies. It sells books. It fills conferences. It generates offerings. It causes people to think they have an edge on the truth that everyone else is missing. It's all baloney.
Paul fought this too:
1 Corinthians 2
Paul’s Message of Wisdom
1 When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. 2 For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. 4 And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 5 I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.
6 Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. 7 No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. 8 But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”
The church has become so fleshly, so carnal that people are hungry for "wisdom", Biblical hiddens, secrets, things only known by God. They run to and fro seeking the next hot thing.
Not even Jesus as Incarnate Knows things that these wise preachers now proclaim with confidence. It breaks my heart. It broke the heart of the Apostle Paul and it breaks the heart of God (If his heart can be broken). Who do they think they are?
We must go back to preaching and teaching words that bring revelation, not confusion. It's been a long time since I have heard such.
Here's the spiritual test: Will this be wisdom that wins souls? Will this break yokes of bondage? Will this provide blessed hope? Will this teaching manifest in people's lives in
- Love
- Joy
- Peace
- Longsuffering
- Kindness
- Goodness
- Faithfulness
- Gentleness
- Self-control
What will be the net result, the outcome, the manifestation of this teaching? That is the question. Where are you taking this people Pastor, Apostle, Prophet?
That is why I am so grieved at the error filled and presumptuous teachings on the end times that seem to have accelerated particularly after the Tsunami and Earthquake.
We should be well acquainted with Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew 24, Thessalonians, Revelation and a hundred other places that seem to address the end of the age, the end of the world, the judgment, the persecutions, the times of trouble and place them deep in our spirit. Let them instruct us on how to live. Let them create an understanding and a revelation of how things happen in the spirit realm. Then ask yourself the question, in view of all these things, HOW then should we live?
Here is a truth from the Throne of God. No matter what you believe about the end times, you know very little with any certainty whatsoever. Whatever certainty you have is fraught with error, human understanding, reason, logic and books written by people as confused as you are. Let the Spirit of GOD, the Holy Spirit given to you, Teach YOU all things. That's his job. It is in this ONE area where the greatest damage can be done to a believer. False teaching can lead to false revelation and that will lead to false manifestations in people's lives. Too much of this fleshly puffed up preaching is going on right now.
The Spirit of God says...Consider your Ways. God will bring judgment on those who continue to lead people into places never intended. He will silence those who tickle men's ears. He loves his sheep more than he cares about the reputation or place of his shepherds.
Don't find yourself weighed in the balance and found wanting.

I came across a rapture-ready site a few years ago where the poster was ready and packed to be raptured on a certain date. It was based on Jewish festival dates etc. Obviously they're still waiting!
I'm all for being ready but I am going to work to the final hour, God willing, to further His Kingdom. Whether that is my final hour before physical death or before the Rapture, I don't know.
Many years ago I met a leader of an organization who was going behind the Iron Curtain. I gave him a Ukrainian Bible to take. I found out a few years later, that he had got cancer and died. Until a few weeks before his death, maybe until he could physically still work, he was packing shoe boxes for African kids and continuing Kingdom work. That's one way I would like to go out of this life...
