How to Prophetically Pray for our Leaders

1 Timothy Chapter 2
1I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

I have great disagreements with many of our political leaders in Washington and in our State government.  That doesn't mean I can't pray for them.  Here are the key things I pray for:

Protection. I ask God to protect us from the instability that would come from the untimely death of anyone in government by hostile forces.  No assassinations.

Wisdom.  I ask God to give wisdom to those in government.

Intervention. I ask God to intervene when there is difficulty, that the peace of God would be an umpire in conflict.

Truth.  I ask God to bring truth to the matter.  If there is deception, diversion or misdirection, that it be exposed for what it is and that truth return.  Truth will make a country free...lies keep us in bondage.

Transparency.  I call on God to be true to his word and expose all works of darkness that may exist.  Non Partisan Exposure.  IF someone is trying to slip something by, expose it and call shame upon their heads.

Removal of all threats and evil schemes.  I call on God that his will be done in removing those who are workers of iniquity (twistedness) in office.

Discernment.  I ask God to give me eyes to see and ears to hear past those who would lie to me in media, talk shows and blogs.  Let me see and hear without prejudice.  Allow me to live in peace.

Last I pray for an increase in Peace and Godliness. First in my own life and then in the lives of those who would lead us.  In that way I give thanks, sometimes in faith not yet seeing, for the leaders he has allowed to be in authority.  I ask that his perfect will in working out all things for good even if meant for evil to be in effect.  That Romans 8:28's promise is in full.  For that I can give thanks.

Pray this way as Paul commanded and you will be praying rightly.

Pretty good instruction good job. A totally unrelated thing that leapt to mind from your article. If one studied the actual prayers of paul I don't think He ever prayed for anything for himself other than the removal of that thorn, Everything else was concerning relationship to Jesus and clarity direction and impartation of God for our spiritual man and what we needed to accomplish Gods will. Did I miss it anywhere. I just wondered because I remember reading an article by another prophet and she got to looking at American Christian leaders and with some regret actually asked are they really preaching and emphasizing what the Apostle of the bible did. I don't believe the majority are any thought?
