Pride and a Fall

I heard this yesterday:

Pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18
Or as it is often quoted: Pride goeth before a fall.

We have had a fall in this country. The church has had a fall. Business has had a fall. Real estate has had a fall. People's work has had a fall. The economy has had a fall.

If there has been a fall, destruction of what we knew, then, what is the reason if this scripture is true (it is of course).

If there was a fall, there was pride before hand. There was haughtiness.

Pride in being the most powerful country in the world. Haughtiness in pushing our economic weight around. A sense that if we could put a man on the moon we could do anything. I have news for you, the USA couldn't put a man on the moon right now.

What is the solution. The church has become a ministry machine. It no longer works. As a result it's ineffective at dealing with the pride and arrogance in society.

IF we as a nation, church, people won't humble ourselves, God will have to humble us. He will have to deal with us. He will have to show us our position as he did with Nebuchadnezzar.

Once true humility is effected, pride crushed, haughtiness displaced, then we will find ourselves emerging from our great fall.

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord or be humbled.

Excellent, I am going to pass this along to as many as I can. This really sums things up so well.
