The Devil want to Convince YOU... Eternity isn't real

God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT

When we buried a beloved Uncle this last weekend, the Lord gave me this verse by His Spirit that I brought to those gathered.  It occurs after the long list of "a time for everything" we know so well from Ecclesiastes.

Then the Spirit of God said, "I placed this in man's heart so he would not be subject to the lies of the devil.  Eternity is where I live.  Eternity is MY dwelling place and I would have you come dwell there.  It's in your heart.  You know it's real.  Yet...the deceiver tells you it's not.  Eternal life is yours, you will never perish.  Rest and enjoy the TIME I give you as a gift."

What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.  Ecclesiastes 3:9-14

All of the familiar passages that we read and hear at funerals were read.  I won't rehearse them here.  You know them well.  You will hear them many times before you step from time into eternity as you say goodbye to those who go on ahead.

If eternity is the dwelling place of God and when you step from time you will dwell with Him there  and with those who have gone before. There is comfort and assurance in that truth.

So, the next time the devil tries to convince you it's not all real, take this ancient truth, centuries before Jesus and the Epistles were written, and show him that.

He too has an eternal fate. That's what he fears.  That's why he lies.
