Two little known facts about the Crucifixion.

1. The alternatives that Pilate gave the madding crowd was to release TWO men named Jesus. Jesus Bar Abbas... or Jesus the Messiah. Jesus Bar Abbas would have been the son most likely of a priest. Bar means Son. Abbas... of the Father. So this priest's son had committed murder. Was to be crucified that very day. BUT the TRUE son of the TRUE Father took his place.

"So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?"" Matthew 27:17

2. There were Four women at the foot of the cross who witnessed the Crucifixion, THREE were named MARY ... Mary the Mother of Jesus, Mary the wife of Clopas who incidentally was one of the two men Jesus met on the road to Emmaus, And Mary Magdalene. "Therefore the soldiers did these things. But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the {wife} of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene". John 19:25 Who was the fourth? She is identified according to scripture as the Sister of Mary the Mother of Jesus. In other scriptural references it is evidenced that her name was Salome. Some have taught that Mary the wife of Cleopas was Mary the Mother of Jesus' Sister.

It does not make sense that there would be two girls in the same family that would have the same name, I believe 'MARY'S sister' is Salome, the mother of James and John, Zebedees wife. Matthew 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses,[Jesus mother] and the mother of Zebedee’s children.[Salome]

And while this is all sort of Bible Geek stuff.. it's good to know these things.
