Manipulation of the Word of God to manipulate people

The best interpretation of the word of God is found in the word of God.  So many televisions preachers and some local preachers twist the word of God to accomplish their own goals.

The most egregious of these are those who try to extract money from people by promises of huge returns if they will just be obedient and send a certain amount of money.  Mike Murdock is famous for this.  He is always coming up with some inane amount of money that if you just sent it to him WINDOWS of heaven would open up.

Of course the people that need it the worst are the most susceptible.

Let's look at the passages they use to convince people.  There are a lot.  To be fair, I can take any page of the Bible and use a passage from it to create an offering sermon.  If you can't do this you are asleep.  I can also make a appeal for an altar call and a communion sermon from any page of the Bible.  It's not hard.. if you know how.

Those who use these manipulations are skilled in this as well.  It's witchcraft.  Telling people they will reap a harvest by making a specific gift.  The one I heard yesterday on Benny Hinn was Brian Carn.  He said that if you sent him $123.23 you would reap a great reward.  That's simply lottery mentality.

One of the passages people use to extract money from people is Luke 6:28.   "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

That sounds great... right?  Until you read the passage in cotext, the way Jesus taught it suddenly you see that the meaning is not at all what you think.

Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. 37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. 39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. 41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

This passage, this teaching has to do with mercy, judggement, love and how we get back what we give... good or bad.  From Men.  Money has nothign to do with this.  It does talk of gernerosity, but to one another.  It talks of forgiveness to one another, even those who are not worthy.

If you study grace, generosity and forgiveness you will see that they are words descriptive of the RIGHTEOUS man.  So when David says he never has seen the righteous forsaken, nor their children begging bread, you have a pretty good idea of Righteousness.

Another proof text is the Seedtime and Harvest in Genesis in context this is what it says.

Genisis 8:20 Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
You have to remember what the earth was like before the flood.  No rain.  No seasons. Just a mist in the atmosphere that watered the earth.  When the Rainbow promise was make then cycles of earth began.  Cold, Heat, Summer winter, seedtime harvest.  Day and Night.   Some of that was there before the flood, but afterwards things changed.  It has NOTHING whatever to do with giving.  God's command to go forth be  fruitful and multiply to replenish the earth references the new seasons and the new terraform of the earth, winter, summer, seedtime harvest cold heat and RAIN.  The new thing.   This passage speaks of opprotunyt and mandate, but nothign about money, giving or seed faith.

The last place most people go is Malachi 3.  The windows of heaven.

Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. 7 Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’ 8 “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease.[a] Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

The promise is true. Be loyal and faithful in tithes and offereings and God's provision and protection will be in effect.  This is not about giving to a ministry... per se.  It is once again about being and manifesting storehouse mentality in generosity.  That which pours out blessing, rebukes insects, makes certain of a harvest and being a testimony to the nature.  Nothing about seed faith here either.

IF you are called of God to sow a seed, and I have been, then you should obey.  On the other hand if someone tells you how much to send in manipulation as Brian Carn did... that is not a prophetic act.   That is manipulation and witchcraft.

There will be a call to account.

That's a great post. I don't quite understand
The promise is true. Be loyal and faithful in tithes and offereings and God's provision and protection will be in effect. Do you mean true as in that is what God told Israel. If so collectively ? THE FIRST TITHE Leviticus27:30-33 ? SECOND TITHE
Deuteronomy 14:22-27 ? THIRD TITHE Deuteronomy 14:28-29: seeing as how I am kind of closer to here in life .2 Corinthians 11:26-28 Would this apply ? And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, when the Lord your God blesses you, because the place is too far from you, which the Lord your God chooses, to set his name there, 25 then you shall turn it into money and bind up the money in your hand and go to the place that the Lord your God chooses 26 and spend the money for whatever you desire—oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. And you shall eat there before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.or do you mean tithe as in the spoils of war Abraham gave ? I ask this as I was told test God tithe. I did until I could not pay rent or even afford a doctor. None of the ministers I told when I lost everything. offered any help . several did say you have to believe God have faith. one even said no don't go see the doctor. My old pastor famous hung around with mac Hammond Kenneth hagin r.w. schambach harfouche and bently. little church in ohio by comaparison. however. sadly is still telling people the same on the webcasts of over 100 thousand. Pleas explain what you meant by the tithe ? It is not that I do not give or did not tithe until I could not work due to health problems. but as far as healing and tithe in the new testament. either I do not understand or God does not keep His promise.

#1 Anonymous. Why don't you stop tormenting this man and go and find out what the Lord wants you to be doing. If you belong to the Lord, (and I don't know you so I say if) why don't you get your life in order and do what the Lord has called you to do? Please stop dedicating yourself to trolling this blog and challenging everything this dear man posts? I guarantee you that challenging Gene is not a calling from the Lord. It may be a spiritual directive but it is not from Jesus Christ.
Please see a true Pastor and be delivered of a religious spirit. Help yourself. Repent of this.

If you are, as I suspect, the person who continually challenges what is written here I also have some scripture for you...

Titus 3

9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned

Why you would say quote to others titus 3 which concerns foolishness and controversy is beyond my thinking. Gene did a good article and some of the other posts where adding valid scriptural points and scripture challenges to actually study and do things according to the Word. unlike yours attempt to comment
