The Nameless and Faceless ---- A Ministry Without a Name

I am often asked what the name of my church or ministry is. I never quite know what to say. It's not "The Tabernacle of Last Days Waiting for the Rapture of the Remnant Saints". I long ago decided to take scriptural advice of Paul the Apostle. He said follow me as I follow Jesus. Seems like a good play. So, My ministry has exactly the same ministry title as the Apostle Paul. None.

I also identify strongly as a Prophet to the Nation with Amos the Prophet. I speak truth to power and call out unrighteous judgement when I see it. Most people want smooth words. Amos was a prophet called and used by God to "purify" the Israelite northern tribes (Samaria) by speaking truth and conviction with God's love. He talked about their sins (as do I), including:

**Exploiting the poor
I still do. This government's exploitation of the poor while pretending to help them is criminal and ungodly.

**Taking grain
The Taxation and confiscation schemes of those in charge is out and out theft.

**Selling people as slaves
The people who are slaves to ideologies they do not understand, the Plantation mentality must be exposed.

Here's how it played out in Amos' day

The Lord gives a mandate:

Amos Chapter 7
A Vision of a Plumb Line

7 Then he showed me another vision. I saw the Lord standing beside a wall that had been built using a plumb line. He was using a plumb line to see if it was still straight. 8 And the Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”

I answered, “A plumb line.”

And the Lord replied, “I will test my people with this plumb line. I will no longer ignore all their sins. 9 The pagan shrines of your ancestors will be ruined, and the temples of Israel will be destroyed; I will bring the dynasty of King Jeroboam to a sudden end.”

Amos and Amaziah

10 Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel: “Amos is hatching a plot against you right here on your very doorstep! What he is saying is intolerable. 11 He is saying, ‘Jeroboam will soon be killed, and the people of Israel will be sent away into exile.’”

12 Then Amaziah sent orders to Amos: “Get out of here, you prophet! Go on back to the land of Judah, and earn your living by prophesying there! 13 Don’t bother us with your prophecies here in Bethel. This is the king’s sanctuary and the national place of worship!”

14 But Amos replied, “I’m not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I’m just a shepherd, and I take care of sycamore-fig trees. 15 But the Lord called me away from my flock and told me, ‘Go and prophesy to my people in Israel.’ 16 Now then, listen to this message from the Lord:

“You say,
‘Don’t prophesy against Israel.
Stop preaching against my people.’
17 But this is what the Lord says:
‘Your wife will become a prostitute in this city,
and your sons and daughters will be killed.
Your land will be divided up,
and you yourself will die in a foreign land.
And the people of Israel will certainly become captives in exile,
far from their homeland.’”

This kind of national prophet is never very popular with people who like laying in paneled houses reclining on soft beds while exploiting people. It's a hard thing...but the call is there.

So, If the ministry (church?) I have been given to carry out has a name, just use the same one that Amos and Paul used. You don't know it? It doesn't exist. Neither does the ministry I have on the earth have a name. No hyperbole, No big name. Just doing what I am called to do... as these men did...nameless and faceless. You can be the "Internationale outreach church of magnificent anointing and glory" if you want to... I'll just be me and what God has called me to be and do.

  • Paul Planted churches
  • Paul counseled leaders
  • Paul rebuked sin
  • Paul preached Christ and Him Crucified
  • Paul wrote epistles (letters)
  • Paul encouraged people to get back to the basics
  • Paul went to many places to observe and minister to those people in those churches
  • Paul laid hands on people to impart the Gifts
  • Paul taught on Marriage
  • Paul had a supernatural revelation of heaven
  • Paul received and offered prophecy
  • Paul dealt with church structure
  • Paul denounced error but in love

He did all this without a ministry name. Just, Paul an Apostle of God.

All the things he did, I have done and am doing. Not as an apostle, but as a prophet;  Gene, a Prophet of God. So when I am asked for some kind of credential for this (other than the ordination I carry) as in the name of the "Church" or Ministry, defer I will.

For like Amos the Prophet (Slightly Edited to fit) Chapter 7:14
14 But Gene replied, “I’m not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I’m just a farmer, and I take care of trees. 15 But the Lord called me away from my work and told me, ‘Go and prophesy to my people in America.’

I just wanted people to be aware of the name and title of the Ministry God has given me to do... it's not much, but I'm in good company.

Here we go again
Isaiah 30

8Go now, write it on a tablet for them,

inscribe it on a scroll,

that it maybe for a time to come

that it may be an everlasting witness.

9For these are rebellious people, deceitful children,

children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.

10They say to the seers,

“See no more visions!”

and to the prophets,

“Give us no more visions of what is right!

Tell us pleasant things,

prophesy illusions.

11Leave this way,

get off this path,

and stop confronting us

with the Holy One of Israel!”
