There has been much written about the office and function of prophet in the past three decades. In this article I will be writing regarding my own experience in understanding what the Bible says about the prophetic ministry, and I will attempt to connect this to today’s world.
First of all, by prophet I am not referring to a person who exercises the gift of prophecy as taught in 1 Corinthians 14:2-4 (consisting of general exhortations, comfort and rebuke, which everyone in the church is encouraged to do; read 1 Corinthians 14:39). I am also not referring to a person preaching a sermon to a congregation. I am speaking about a person who, through much prayer, travail, and meditation in the scriptures, regularly stands in the council and heavenly assembly of God (with the angels and other messengers of God’s court) to hear what the Spirit is saying, so that the mind and heart of God can be communicated to the church and nation. Examples of a prophet standing in the council and/or court of the living God to hear His word are found in Isaiah 6:1-9; Ezekiel 1-3,10; Jeremiah 15:19; extraordinary examples of this can be found in the New Testament with the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:1-12 and the Apostle John in Revelation 1:9-20 and 4:1-2.
Jeremiah 23:16-22 shows that the main distinction between false and true prophets is that false prophets speak without being in the council of the Lord and, hence, utter words without ever being sent by God.

Al Thomas: Heads Are About to Roll...

I had a vision of large severed heads suddenly dropping in front of Believers. The Holy Spirit said, "Many have been fighting fierce battles and growing weary, but as David killed Goliath and cut his head off, so are the heads of many demonic giants about to fall causing a ripple effect for great victories in ministries and individuals."

Many are facing giants...but heads are about to roll. Learn from David, a man who knew how to handle giants. Read 1 Samuel 17:51, and let the beheading begin.

God Says: "David Had Courage For My Cause – I Will Give You the Same Boldness"

Not for your cause...but for God's. Remember this: David was not afraid of anything except offending God. When David heard Goliath making threats against God and His people, he was personally offended. As God gives you the Spirit of David, He wants you to be personally offended at anything or anyone that keeps you from fulfilling His call on your life. However, David was not looking for a name for himself or desiring to be famous, and neither should you.

David said, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?" (1 Samuel 17:26). Saul and the army of Israel were all controlled by fear and their hearts melted. But David said: "Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him," (verse 32). Saul had even tried to talk David out of the showdown with Goliath (see verse 33). Even so, the devil has tried to get you to quit or talk you out of fighting a certain giant in your life. Ignore them! You do not have the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). When the Spirit of BOLDNESS comes upon you, you will not let any giant deter you; rather you will focus on the power of God's name (vs. 45). God will give you courage to face every giant, so do not let anything deter you from obeying Him.

Wondering how to defeat the giant you see in front of you? Look around, you will see some stones (weapons) within your reach: God's Word, Truth (Jesus' name) and faith (Ephesians 6:13-17). You have all the weapons you need; simply pick them up.

God Says: "Criticism Must Not Keep You From Completing Your Mission"

Almost twenty years ago when God told us to begin our ministry, Celebrating His Life, we were instructed to pray for healing in every service. We were to demonstrate and celebrate God's power. Some criticized us for emphasizing healing. I first thought, "Maybe I should ease up a bit on this..." But deep in prayer I heard God say, "Don't ease up, heat up." I stood my ground, but at the same time I was gentle and loving to my distracters. We stood firm, and over the years we have seen thousands of healings and miracles. What if I had listened to the criticism? What if I had eased up instead of heating up? Many would have never received their healing. Don't let the distracters hinder your calling.

David's brother Eliab got angry with David and criticized him (1 Samuel 17:28). David ignored his brother's criticism because David had a pure motive. What was David's reaction? He said "Is there not a cause?" (verse 29). David was asking his brother: "Can't you see my motive? My cause is the cause of the God of Israel." Eliab couldn't see David's true motive, and don't expect everyone to see yours. His brothers did not believe he would actually ascend to the throne. Some do not believe you will succeed. Like David's brothers, they are wrong.

David never criticized God's anointed (neither must you), even when he knew they were wrong. He could have killed Saul a few times...but he did not. Michal, a daughter of Saul, made that mistake (2 Samuel 6:20) when David danced before God. She criticized David as he was dancing, and she despised David in her heart. From then on she was barren. Anyone critical of God's anointed ones is in danger of being unfruitful. David did not let criticism deter him. Follow David's example if you want to succeed in fulfilling God's will in your life.

God Says: "I Will Give You An Anointing to Fight the Goliaths In Your Life"

When David put on Saul's armor he said, "'I cannot go in these..because I am not used to them,' so he took them off," (1 Samuel 17:38-39). Remember, you can't fight with another's anointing. Don't imitate others and try to utilize their methods. Use the anointing God has for you. Who would have thought that Goliath would be defeated with a small stone? That was God's chosen method for David to defeat his giant, yet He has something greater for you; you will defeat your giants with faith as small as a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20). Many will discover new gifts God has given them. Keep an eye out for them and get ready to enter the battlefield. Many think God is done with them, and many are wrong. God has not brought you this far to let you fail. The Scripture, "...He who began a good work in you will complete it..." (Philippians 1:6) will have new, razor-sharp meaning for many. It will seem like your faith has faith.

God Says: "'Prophesize' to Your Giants That They Are About to Fall"

Don't let your giants prophesy doom to you...you prophesy victory over your giants. Before David got rough he talked tough. David said, "This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee..." (1 Samuel 17:46). Many are about to smite the enemy. The Spirit of David prophesied to that giant in front of him. You need to talk tough to your enemies. The devil tries to intimidate Believers, but we need to intimidate the enemy. Jesus dealt severely with the devil and gave him no space. We must do the same. This is a war and war is not pretty. It's messy and brutal. Deal harshly with the devil and stand your ground.

Paul instructs Believers to "therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand," (Ephesians 6:13 NIV). That word stand is mentioned TWICE. You need to dig in firmly and stand your ground! What was it about this man David that made him a champion? Was it because he was an athlete, a musician, a poet? No, he was simply a shepherd boy. Was it because he had courage for God's cause? Or that he ignored criticism? Perhaps because he prophesied that this giant would fall? All of the latter are important, but it was God's Spirit resting upon Him that made the difference. The Spirit of God resting on you will make the difference also.

Jesus told His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they received the promise of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4). Do not underestimate the Holy Spirit that rests on you. Rely on the Spirit of God. The same Holy Spirit that rested on Jesus is the same Holy Spirit given to us. Jesus said, "As the Father has sent Me, so I am sending I you," (John 20:21). God is looking for people who will receive His Spirit to the fullest. Make sure your heart is given over to the Father completely: "...I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do" (Acts 13:22). Then, prepare to be found. David was an "abider" (John 15:4-7); so must you be. He actively sought after God (Psalm 27); so must you. Many of you have been actively seeking, wondering when God will answer you.

I hear the Holy Spirit saying, "I am going to pour out boldness on the Body of Christ."

Mighty warrior (yes, that's you), get up and pull out the sword. Heads are about to roll...

And David took out his sword and cut off Goliath's head... 1 Samuel 17:51

“The LORD says:

The American dollar is about to lose 30% more of its’ present value. This will be the second drop since the previous 2008 drop of 20%. The dollar will then be worth half of what it was before September 2008. This drop will cause great economic distress upon our nation. The church will be shaken and many will wake up spiritually and cry out to ME. There will be also looting, rioting, and terrorism in our land.

There is an even greater financial disaster that is falling upon Europe that will collapse the Euro, cause panic and chaos there. Germany will refuse to prop up the euro any more. Basic needs in the poorer European nations will be threatened. Many will lose their money overnight as the stage is set for the financial takeover of the Antichrist system. This is imminent, and the dollar will also follow, although it will survive for a season more.

The great revival will also begin. God has hidden His Holy Apostles and Prophets for this present hour. There will be great outpourings of supernatural provision, miracles, and healing in various places. These areas will become cities of refuge and places of refuge for God’s people.

There is coming an all out war in the Middle East as the neighboring Arab nations will come against Israel with a sudden missile attack starting from the north with Hezbollah, Lebanon, and Syria. Other Arab nations will join. Israel will be hit from all sides at once and there will be deaths and partial destruction of settlements, smaller cities to the north, and some damage to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as well. Israel will respond with great force, and limited nuclear weapons will release devastation upon the neighboring countries, particularly Lebanon, Damascus, which will be destroyed completely, and the rest of Syria as well as military strikes into Iran, Gaza, and even northern Egypt/Sinai region.

The resulting shaking of the West will then release a tremendous movement of Jews making aliyah back to Israel. There will no longer be security or stability as it has been up to now in America and Europe. Israel will emerge victorious from this war, but hurt. However, the devastation inflicted upon the attackers will be one hundred times worse. The spoils of this war will include much territory and will force the west to recognize the Holy God of Israel. It will emerge as the only stable country in the region. Many, even millions of Arabs will be killed. Islam will receive a mortal wounding by the Holy God of Israel.

I am taking Billy Graham home to heaven soon. When you see this, know that My time of grace for the Gentile nations is coming to a close.”

Prepare your hearts, the LORD is at the door to appear for His Bride, the overcoming church in this midnight hour

Pray for those that are trapped in darkness that God will reach them in time.

There Shall Be an Acceleration

Hear what the Spirit says tonight: "What you are entering, and it started in the month of February, you will smell it, you will taste it, you will feel it. The time has come for the outpouring of the latter rain. The time has come for the double portion. The time has come for an outpouring the earth has never experienced, ever. And before they say, 'We will take all the nations of the world and we will make one nation and one world,' I will bring such an outpouring of My Spirit that men shall leap. They shall run, as Elisha ran, with an acceleration. There shall be an acceleration of miracles, acceleration of understanding, acceleration of knowledge that shall travel to and fro across the face of the earth. Young men shall rise up and they will do what Joel told them they would do – they will prophesy, they will have visions. Your children shall know that this is that time," says the Lord.

"Look to the month of May, and then look to the month of October, and then look," says the Lord. "You will enter in and say, 'What has happened to the tyrants? What has happened to them in North Korea? What has happened to those that have said, 'We will raise up a generation of people that will not pronounce the name of God properly'?" God says, "They shall pronounce My name, every one of them. Jireh. They shall say Shalom. They shall say every name. They shall say Nissi. They shall say every name of God, and as they say it, I will pour out of My Spirit upon the musicians, and upon the authors, and upon the poets." God said, "You are entering in beyond the veil," says the Lord.

The Voice of Esther Is About to Arise

"What has come before Me? There has been a stench. There has been a stench that has brought the people to their knees – in America and in different nations that I have My eye on. No, I have not walked away from those that have been crippled and wounded in Syria, Iran. There are some that cry out to Me, young people that have said, 'It is enough.' I will raise up some of the greatest prophets from the soil and the ashes and the dust of Syria; they will come to Israel and say, 'We love you; we bless you.' This shall not be an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. For they shall say, 'We shall follow the instructions and commands of Jesus: Forgive, love one another.' A band of young people from Syria, Iran, and Afghanistan shall defy; they shall defy the Beast of the East. They shall defy Islam. They shall say, 'We will not be bashed down to a god that is dead.' Young people by the hundreds of thousands shall flock, and they shall gather together, and they shall call out to Him."

And God said, "I will topple those governments and I will cause them to fall to the ashes. And Syria shall no longer be Syria and Iran shall no longer be called that name. For I shall take them and I shall bash their heads together. Is it not I," said the Lord, "that will stand for Israel and show My magnificence? Did I not say that I would show My excellence? Did I not say that I would be the Captain of the Hosts?

"And the voice of Esther is about to arise; the voice of Esther is about to arise." God said, "In the next few years, I will raise up a party, a party that I've told you about. It shall neither be Republican nor Democrat, and they shall be the American party, and they shall stand for what is right." God said. "Watch Me, how I raise it up in this nation," says the Lord.

It's a Spiritual Thing

Pray with me; it's a spiritual thing. Right here – and I don't make up these things – there is an angel; there is an angelic presence, carrying the future. Don't tell me they don't exist. They are messengers. They wait for the command of the Word of the Lord. Father, we want this presence to go throughout the Earth. I'm telling you, the future – so much dismay, so much arrogance, and so much hatred for God's Jews, God's people. Unusual, but it is a sign, for when the triumph comes, how great shall it be for the earth. In their demise, in their weakness, such greatness came forth. Yet when Israel is raised up for that season, how great it shall be for the heathen. How great it shall be for the nations.

Conquered Curses

April 21, 2012 - From The Den

The Spirit of God says, "This day I wish to conquer your curses. I wish to conquer things that have come against you. I want your soul to be restored today. Therefore, I will show you this day, in this next hour, how your curses will be broken – that which previous generations have done throughout the centuries and you have had to take it and live with it." God said, "No, it is not necessary; it is not necessary for yesterday's faults and yesterday's sins to be in your basket," says the Lord, "to be in your home and to be in your blood. Today I will give you the power to stop the curse and to stop the angel of death that is roaming up and down the United States of America and the nations of the earth, even in Israel today."

I declare the power of Your Word! The Word of the Lord has come! The curse shall be broken over the alcoholic, over the drug addict, over those who are poverty-stricken, Lord, over every sickness represented here today. Arise, oh Lord! Arise, oh Lord, and stop the curse, I pray!

Cast Off the Garments of Heaviness

The Spirit of God says, "Cast off the garments that you have carried – the garments of heaviness, the garments of depression. They will be cast off today. Cast off the garments of iniquity! Cast off the garments of every curse that has come against you – indifference and division in this country."

I cast off the garment of division that has come against this nation! Let the curse be broken and blessings come, blessings come, blessings come, blessing, blessing upon each home. I thank You for doing that, Lord.

God Has Promised

"I have promised. I, Myself, have promised the people who have sought after Me that I would fill those who hunger and thirst for My light and My righteousness. Many are sick; many are in fear; many are depressed, for you have heard the words of those who have sat in high places – and yet I, Myself, have promised this nation and those who would call upon Me that I would come to them again and I would take the plows of those that have plowed in hard soil and hard ground and honor them during famine as they plowed. And I will cause a massive harvest to come. Curses that have come upon you from various sources, I, Myself, will break today. For those who hear, that which came from many years ago and has held you down, I will break it today and I will show you how through My servant."

false flag

Look out for the false flag yet to come late summer or fall. It will be devisive. It will be a near crisis. It will be designed to divert attention from the real issues of the day and of the election. It will have racist under tones, class warfare and an attack on the "Rich". It will divide the nation even more and mask the things that have offended many last time Obama voters into rethinking their next vote. Everything they have been angry with him about (gay marriage) will pale in comparison with what this "Crisis" will be. Trayvon Martin was a test run. The pattern is now set. It MUST happen. IF there is no manufactured media driven crisis the election will be lost and Obama will be out of work. He will start his 99 weeks of unemployment on Jan 20, 2013-- unless. SO look for it, watch for it, discern it. The false flag is on the way. I will call it when I see it, but you'll know it when it appears.

in the wrong place

Billy Graham never addressed the Catholic College of College Cardinals. Smith Wigglesworth was never invited to minister to the Lutheran Church in America. Andrew Murray never addressed the Anglican Church in England. John G Lake never ministered to the Mormons in Salt Lake City. Charles Spurgeon never went to Mecca to preach to the Muslims. Just because not everyone invites you to come minister doesn't mean you don't have a place. You aren't called to everyone's city, and not every city is called to you. God will make a way for your ministry. Don't worry that you don't get an invite. Just go where they celebrate you, not where they tolerate you. IF you don't find a place in the place you are, find a place that has a place for you. Don't be a square peg spiritually in a religious round hole. Go where they have room for your gift.....if they don't you are in the wrong place.

The death of a ministry is predictability. The more you can predict what will happen tomorrow the more STUCK that place is. Are we so convinced that the Holy Spirit lacks freshness to the point where you can set your clock by the predictable events. It's time to break out of our traditions and predictability. What if...God were really going to show up...in a big way? Would you allow Him to do what He wants to do? IF he did, how would that manifest? How would you know what is supposed to be taking place IF the Lord WERE to take control? Are you willing to move by the spirit or is your programed agenda so precious that your church has become a no spontaneity zone? When God says, "Behold I do a NEW thing"...what does that have to do with the church service you will lead tomorrow?

What if you had NOTHING in mind. Just showed up. No planned music. No preprogrammed sermonizing. No nothing. Could you even have church? OR must you control everything? Some of the BEST times in the Lord is when Anything could happen...and did. Back yourself off, let GOD in.
