Repentance is nessasary but not continual... by Andrew Thurner

I saw this excellent writing from Andrew, a man I respect.  I hope you grasp what he is saying:

The new creation is free of the past, up to and including the present. More something I read proposed a life of continual, ongoing repentance. Curiously absent was any Scriptural support. In fact, it's wording carried the tone of "imposition" upon every believer, to continually grovel before God. And set for this earning of favor program was the designation of "lifetime."   Groveling earns. Reverence respects. How could we possibly earn grace? Short answer: We can't. But we can receive the free gift. And reverence with tears, acknowledging the cost Jesus paid in full for us. But reverence isn't about works, or earning the free gift of grace. The price is already paid.

Sounded more like a lifetime sentence to me.

I can't help but picture the scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail" .... Quote (God to Arthur in the film): " Oh stop groveling, one thing I can't stand is people groveling"... Every time I try to talk to someone it's sorry this, and forgive me that, and I'm not worthy...."

God's Word says nothing like this and sets no requirement like this. We are to "Walk in the Spirit," "Set [our] minds on things above, not on earthly things," thus set our focus on Jesus' substitutionary resolve for us. Thankfully, due to the Passion (Jesus' passion for us), we are not under the spell of sin's sway any longer ... our co-death in Christ means that every aspect of the curse is broken on the cross (2 Cor. 5:21). In Christ, we also died to the Law, which gave power to our (PAST) sinful nature. Because of the cross, the Law is no longer in play ... abolished! (Romans 7:4-6) Isn't this good news!?! Our lifetime sentence is one of being eternally enraptured with God's favor and love.

Dereck prince. EACH MESSAGE WILL SCRIPTURALLY BUILD ON THE FOUNDATIONAL DOCTRINE OF REPENTANCE. THEY ARE EACH DIFFERENT. ALL ARE FREE ON THE WEB.1. THRU REPENTANCE TO FAITH 2. REPETNANCE PART 1 AND REPENTANCE PART 2 3. TAKING TIME TO WAIT ON GOD PART 1 AND PART 2 (HE ASKED GOD WHY AM I DYING) CONFESSION OF SIN IS VALID ! TO MAKE ANY SENSE OF THIS TOOK AN ACT OF GOD. AFTER LISTENING TO THE ABOVE IN ORDER AND UNDERSTANDING THEM LISTEN TO A.W. TOZER THE VOICE OF CONSCIENCE. EVIDENTLY TOZER CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD HOW THE 1ST THREE MESSAGES APPLIED. THE PLACE OF CONSCIENCE AND THE EFFECTS OF SEARING THAT CONSCIENCE DUE TO THE DECIETFULLNESS OF SIN OR IGNORING GOD AND NEVER REPENTNING. THIS IS IMPORTANT IT'S FOUNDATIONAL AND I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW FEW PROFESSING FIVE FOLD MINISTERS I HAVE MET THAT UNDERSTAND IT OR TEACH IT. HAGIN TAUGHT ON REPENTANCE AND KEEPING A CLEAR CONSCIENCE AND JOYCE MEIJER HAS MULTIPLE TESTIMONYS OF GOD DEALING WITH HER ABOUT THE PLACE OF CONSCIENCE AND CLEAR CONFESSION OF SIN. CONSCIENCE CAN AND WILL PROMPT REPENTANCE BETWEEN SEVERAL YEARS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO WORK A GRACIOUS FAMILY THAT HOUSED ME AND DID NOT LET ME STARVE AND A CHURCH AND FELLOW MINISTERS THAT DID NOTHING. I STUDIED I PRAYED AND IT SEEMS GOD HAS USED THE ABOVE TO TEACH ME SOMETHING FOUNDATIONAL AND DEADLY IMPERATIVE TO UNDERSTANDING THE FOUNDATIONAL DOCTRINES...........I HOPE THIS HELPS

1Cr 14:24 But if an unbeliever OR an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, THEY are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 1Cr 14:25 as the SECRETS of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”37If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment. 38But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.…If we actually had spiritual leaders that allowed this it would be common knowledge in the assemblies. We have an example Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent .John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into ALL truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that ...

Revelation 3:22 22'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'" In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. Jesus and the Spirit spoke to seven different churches. Be careful Revelation 22 18I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.…Revelation 22 "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11"Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy." Who are the two speaking to the seven churches calling for repentance and warning of chastening or flat out judgment ?

Each was to take heed how they built and many ministers do not build on. The cross the Spirit led life and the tenses of the original language which makes understanding scripture and context much clearer. The milk of the Word involves 1Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.…

Many are not defining eternal life in context example Jesus in John that they mat know thee the one true God. Paul in Philippians 9and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, 10that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; 11in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. that Power is referenced in Romans according to the Spirit of holiness
Might I recommend Apostle lester summral teaching on Romans. Leonard ravenhills teaching on Romans......... one time repentance is not an option..

part 1 of 2
Many do not study the Law of the Spirit a couple names that make a big difference. The Spirit of Grace The Spirit of Holiness the Spirit of The Lord....Paul talks of reasonable service and defilement of a temple.(converts heart in Corinthians will bring God to destroy them.... Some points to ponder 1 John 5:17 in the original language to understand this portion of scripture. Realize their are several words for fear in the new testament. Look them up many would be surprised who used them.
So where Jesus and the Apostles in agreement concerning the issues for believers unbelievers and churches. WOW THE APOSTLES TAUGHT REPENTANCE TO AVOID JUDGMENT ? Acts 8 12-22 Apostle Peter tells a man who believed and
was baptized to repent.
several examples
Apostle Paul addresses repentance 2Cr 7:1 (see the church of sardis Garments defiled by the flesh)2Cr 7:8-10 The apostle Paul repented and commended Christians for repenting because His message brought harsh correction. There was a Christian who did not repent 1
Corinthians 5 4-6 and Paul taught revelation as valid for new testament believers read Col 4:16 reference to one of the seven churches addressed by the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of the Lord.
Apostle James says James 5 14-16 addresses
some some physical aspects caused by lack of repentance from sin concerning Christians. Right in line with Paul saying judge yourselves and you will not be chastened of the Lord and His comments in Corinthians concerning our Body being a
purchased and created temple for the Holy Spirit and our reasonable service of presenting it to God and instructions for communion. Along with the command to lay hands speedily on no man lest ye share in His sin.
All of the Apostles taught directly in line with
Jesus Christ from His earthly ministry to the book of revelation. There are six foundational doctrines to new testament Christianity. And at least three tenses used in the original language for salvation past continuing present and future as such our response is crucial and te Word sates Gods people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. There is a lot of teaching to this and 2 Peter 3:16 warns those called to minister and layman.
An argument seems to be amongst Christians right now. Common sense says this if He convicts Christians of righteousness well James 4:17 Hebrews 10:26 repent ask God for help and realize it’s a process. Knowing the difference between conviction and condemnation is crucial conviction- a matter of conscience which we do not want to sear or harden our hearts to Gods conviction for both direction and correction or allow defilement. God Can prompt repentance The other argument says God convicts of sin and to be honest it is addressed basically the same way. God gives grace for growth but He also gave us His peace and a sanctified conscience. Likley truth is both are true conviction may come for both sin and righteousness. Jesus defined eternal life as to know him in John and Paul in phl .
This subject involves a lot of doctrine Paul considered repentance and judgment two of the foundational doctrines in Christianity crucial he stated foundational doctrines and this is important because Jesus talked about building a house.

part 2 notes
Why is repentance important as communion states many times judgment and personal harm may be avoided change of mind change of direction or even confession of Sin are all valid. Paul stated judgment begins in the house of God. So any one who tells you God will not judge a Christian or those in the World as a few tried to teach me. Just look at them and say does God change. almost every one acknowledged the scripture God does not change. Then say we are in the new testament right under the new covenant. To which most reply yes and say O.K. Your telling me He doesn't judge why does the bible say He does Paul considered repentance and judgment two of the foundational doctrines in Christianity crucial he stated foundational doctrines and this is important because Jesus talked about building a house. God punishing believers for their sins in the new covenant:
Ananias & Saphira—Acts 5:1-14 The Galatian church—Galatians 6:7-8
The promiscuous church member at Corinth—I Corinthians 5:4-5; II Corinthians 2:6 Christian
brothers who maintain certain sins—I Corinthians 5:9-13
Hymenaeus & Alexander—I Timothy 1:19-20; II Timothy 4:14The younger widows—I Timothy 5:11-15
Sinning brothers—I Timothy 5:20
Believers who become lovers of money—I Timothy 6:9-10
Demas—II Timothy 4:10 (see also Colossians 4:14 & Philemon 24 for
confirmation he was not only a believer, but a one-time preacher)
note for unbelievers God’s divine judgment illustrated in the death of Herod
(Acts 12:23), Elymas the sorcererJude gets into many issues addressing issues concerning Christians going the wrong way in Gods sight. Not having the Spirit in the original language is (mistreating ignoring refusing) as a very very simple summary. Jude states some may be saved with fear. This original language word for fear means fear as in scared. Can one go to far as a Christian yes a good example of Christians warned of that James 4 an address to all Christians everywhere 4You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? 6But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."

Be respectful of Gods Spirit for the gift of Salvation is someone not something !be wary when people present every promise of God is yes and amen and do not tell you to seek Gods will time and purpose for you as an individual. Jesus gave rebuke to a church that said 16'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. 17'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.…As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Hebrews 12 states the danger of not repenting and those who get trapped under ministers who refuse to teach on repentance and chastening which is found throughout the new testament yet translated into several different words in English. We have six foundational doctrines in Hebrews one is repentance the other judgment lot's of teaching being struck with blindness (Acts 13:8-12)
and God’s use of civil government to punish evil (Romans 13:1-6).
