Prophecies of the new Great Awakening

Ceci and Dutch Sheets:
A Great Awakening Coming!
Dutch Sheets

Written by Ceci Sheets:

This weekend is a time when all Americans stop and give pause to the memory of so many loved ones who gave their lives on 9/11/2001. I can still remember the phone call I received from my dad that ominous morning:

"Celia, where's Dutch? He's home? OK. I just wanted to see if he was traveling by plane today. Go turn on your TV."

Our lives, just like yours, were changed forever.

This weekend Dutch Sheets is in New York City participating in different Christian events regarding 9/11 including a 3-day "No Surrender" solemn assembly. Charisma online magazine has a feature article regarding this event and in it quotes Dutch:

"I think there are a lot of Christians in America who have given up on America in the sense that we could never be as turned toward the Lord as we once were. And I just can't accept that. I refuse to accept it. I believe there's a 'great awakening coming.' And I believe part of the outcome will be a returning to our roots and our calling as a nation."

There is hope for our great nation. We at Dutch Sheets Ministries are determined more than ever to do what we can to help bring American back to our Christian roots and help bring Awakening to our nation. Join us this weekend as we pray, believe, and remember.

For Him,

James W. Goll:
The Greatest Youth Awakening is Coming!
James W. Goll

The following outline is taken from my Prayer Storm Study Guide and corresponds with the related chapter in my Prayer Storm book. This material carries one of the four major themes the Holy Spirit spoke to me to call forth: 1) Revival in the Church, 2) Prayer for Israel: All Descendants of Abraham, 3) The Greatest Youth Awakening the World Has Ever Seen and 4) Crisis Intervention through Intercession.

Prayer for Another Great Awakening—Youth

And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2:28-29 NKJV

The Time Has Come for Another Great Awakening

In 1967, a youth revival known as the Jesus Movement broke out, sweeping across the country, exploding on college campuses and in coffee houses.

The Catholic charismatic renewal, one of the largest movements in neo-pentecostal history, started the same year and ushered thousands of Catholics and Protestants into fresh encounters with Jesus, including the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

In 1967 also, Jerusalem was once again brought under the control of the Jewish people and the state of Israel. This marked the shifting of eras; the dispensation of the times of the Gentiles began to shift to the time when Jerusalem will become the last days' focus for God's activity in the earth.

All of this has significance for us today, more than 40 years later, because we need another great awakening, specifically a youth awakening, in order to see God's plan come to fruition.

Revolution—Always Begins With Young Adults

Revolutions always start on campuses. Almost every revolution—bad or good—has started with students on college and university campuses. From Marxism, communism, and Nazism to the Moravians, the Azusa Street revival, and the Jesus People movement, every one has started with students or has had a great influence on students, who are hungry for change and willing to lay down their lives for a cause.

1. The campuses are where the future leaders are living and being trained.

2. More than 550,000 international students attend American universities and 600,000 more attend foreign universities.

3. Statistics show that more than 77 percent of all Christians make a decision for Christ before the age of 21.

Campus ministry, Cambridge style: In 1799, an evangelical move of the Holy Spirit began at King's College, Cambridge, England. By 1877, students from across Cambridge's 17 colleges organized the Cambridge Inter-Collegiate Christian Union (CICCU), which in turn caused an increased interest in salvations and missions. An evangelistic campaign led by D.L. Moody and Ira Sankey resulted in a noticeable increase in enrollment in theology schools and involvement in missions, including the launching of the "Cambridge Seven" to China, led by C.T. Studd, who had been a well-known cricket player. More than a century later, CICCU still exists and has helped with the formation of organizations such as InterVarsity, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Navigators.

The First and Second Great Awakenings: The First Great Awakening in North America and Europe was ignited by a Yale University graduate named Jonathan Edwards and by Oxford students John Wesley and George Whitefield. The Second Great Awakening was sparked by Timothy Dwight, the grandson of Jonathan Edwards, at Yale University. After his 1797 message to Yale students, nearly half of Yale's student body came to Christ in a few short months.

The "Haystack Five": Samuel Mills was a freshman at Williams College in Massachusetts in 1806, when he met with four friends for prayer about revival and world missions. When a rainstorm hit, they took refuge under a haystack and continued to pray (thus becoming known as the "Haystack Five"). "When the rain subsided, Mills stood up, slammed his fist into his hand, and announced, 'We can do this, if we will!'" These five young collegians stepped out in faith and not only initiated the first nationwide student movement, but also began the first six mission agencies from North America.

Student Volunteer Movement: In 1886, a 20-something young man named Luther Wishard, newly appointed leader in the YMCA, heard the story of the Haystack Five. Inspired by the story, he committed himself to a revival of the same vision and went on to found the Student Volunteer Movement, which became the largest missions movement of all time.

Over the next generation, students on every campus in the U.S. committed themselves to the "evangelization of the world in this generation." Over 20,000 of them sailed to the foreign mission field, and over 80,000 others had personally committed themselves to prayer and to financially support those being sent out.

Evan Roberts and the Welsh Revival of 1904: At the age of 13, Evan Roberts began to seek the Lord. When he was 26, revival came to his hometown in Wales. He taught the people to pray two simple prayers, "Send the Spirit now for Jesus Christ's sake," and, "Send the Spirit now more powerfully for Jesus Christ's sake." God's Spirit came so powerfully that 100,000 people were born again.

The Prophetic Promises of a Great Youth Awakening

1) Read your Bible with an eye toward young adults. You can see how readily God engages this generation for His purposes—even before colleges and universities existed. Biblical prophecies about the first and second comings of Christ are not confined to the prophetic books of the Old Testament. A surprising number are found in the Psalms.

The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." The Lord will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion; You will rule in the midst of Your enemies. Your troops will be willing on Your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn You will receive the dew of Your youth. Psalm 110:1-3 NIV

This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight. 1 Timothy 1:18

2) When prophecy (Biblical or personal) is neglected, the prayer movement is weakened. Prophetic utterances strengthen our resolve in prayer and obedience, providing significant focus.

A. In 1975, the prophet Bob Jones had the first of a series of encounters with angels who spoke about an outpouring of the Spirit that would be characterized by prophetic intercession. In 1984, the Lord showed Bob that prophetic intercession would need to be joined by "compassion and worship" to be complete. The combination of these anointings would results in several things: revival in the Church, power evangelism in world missions, justice in society, pockets of mercy ("cities of refuge"), and worldwide intercession for Israel. Between 1975 and 1983, Bob was given over 100 prophetic revelations about a worldwide youth movement.

B. In 1995, I had an intense dream and visionary experience in which I saw stadiums filled with young people praising God. I heard this piercing word, "The stadiums will be filled as out of the belly of the Promise Keepers movement shall come forth a Youth Extravaganza that will rock the nations." I'm expecting to see the fulfillment of this word.

The Law of Night and Day Prayer

"And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly..." (Luke 18:7-8 NIV).

Why should 24/7 prayer and worship arise today?

1. 24/7 worship and prayer is done in Heaven and, therefore, should be done on earth.

2. 24/7 worship and prayer releases God's justice on the earth.

3. 24/7 worship and prayer fuels the Great Commission (see Matthew 28:19).

4. 24/7 worship and prayer hinders the plans of the devil.

5. 24/7 worship and prayer releases revival breakthrough.

6. 24/7 worship and prayer prepares the way for Christ's second coming.

The role of prayer in student revivals: In order to understand revival, we must understand the role of prayer in the history of revivals. J. Edwin Orr, the famous revival historian, said, "Young people in student-led prayer cells have been at the forefront in almost every awakening." Even the Moravians have a share in this fact. (By the time Count Nicolas Ludwig von Zinzendorf had graduated from the equivalent of high school at the age of 16, he had started no fewer than seven different student prayer groups, and he continued his prayer disciplines while he was a student at the University of Wittenberg from 1716 to 1719.)

Maturity and Strength

We need to move in the spirit of Elijah, which means, we need to say, "God, give me a spiritual son or daughter." Young people in this "fatherless generation" need to look for spiritual parents who encourage them and intercede for them, helping them find their God-given passions and destinies.

Elders must bless young people with their time, knowledge, wisdom, strength, vision, and every good thing, treating them like full-grown plants and like "corner pillars," bestowing on them a high appraisal of their value and helping them to envision their future in the family of God. They must help them in practical ways by providing necessary resources and releasing authority to them to accomplish their God-given commissions. "Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, and our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace" (Psalm 144:12).

Summary

Moves of God always involve the younger generation. Every one of us must pray for awakening and renewal among young people.

With a Heart for this Generation,

Why Most Evangelicals and many Others MISS the Moves of God - A Prophetic Understanding at the END

There have been many moves and manifestations of the Moves of God since the day of Pentecost. Most have been missed by those who consider themselves followers of the "True Faith".

IF you go back to the very first days you see patterns emerge. The Sanhedrin called in the Disciples and told them to stop. This kind of fits and starts movement in the church for the first 300 years caused many factions. Paul wrote of it. "Some of Paul, Some of Apollos".

Then "Organized" religion took over the movement. At first it seemed a good thing. Then it became a political system, corrupt and even dangerous. Dark ages followed. These aberrations created factions and even allowed for the emergence of a false religion, Islam.

Even during these times from time to time God would break out or break thru and people would see Him move. The desert fathers found truth. Some would proclaim it. For that they lost lives or were burned at the stake.

Every time God tried to show himself new those in the Church rejected and persecuted it. The statement "those from one move of God will reject the next" was proven true.

Then the reformers came along. New move. New opening up of the Truth of God. Rejected by many. And criticized. The religious tried to put it down. New divisions.

Over and over thru the centuries. Even to the last few hundred years. Awakenings. Revivals. All sprouted up. All manifesting a new glory of God. Yet eventually religion, old wine skins, crushed and neutered that move of God. However it left behind people who were convinced that last move was the ultimate move of God. Anything after that can't be God because it doesn't look like the last time.

Azuza street. Powerful but rejected by most Christians. Until it proved to be strong. Now Pentecostal Christianity is the Norm. In all it's manifestations.

Several recent moves have been missed. I'm old enough to remember the great Healing Meetings with Oral Roberts and all the others. Rejected by most evangelicals as weird and radical. Yet now Healing is part of most evangelical theology.

And in the past several decades the moves that have emerged when they did were rejected by most Evangelicals and religious Christians (even Pentecostals).

  • The Charismatic Renewal and Jesus People
  • The message of God's Purposes for your Prosperity
  • The Cleansing of the Church by Scandal in the mid 80's
  • The Laughter revival starting with Rodney Howard Browne
  • Toronto Blessing
  • Pensacola Outpouring
  • The Kansas City Prophets and the Prophetic Voice being brought to the Church
  • The House of Prayer Harp and Bowl intercession
  • The Apostolic and Prophetic Foundations being restored
  • The House Church Movement
  • The Lakeland Outpouring

Each of these brought new accusations of being ungodly. Evil. Demonic. You have no further to go than the Internet to find all kinds of blogs lambasting each of these moves of God as not just wrong but evil. The problem is as each of these manifested, the ones before need to keep God in a Box becomes critical. They had already built a church or a movement around the last one and any new move is threatening to their status quo.

It's ancient history. Yet it repeats itself to this day.

Here's the Prophetic Part:

We see a scene in Heaven where the Beasts, Elders and Angels bow down and cry HOLY. Meaning UNLIKE anything we ever saw before. Completely different. Uncompared to anything else.

Revelation 4
8Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." 9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11"You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."

It happens over and over again. The population of Heaven is constantly amazed and responds in worship and bowing down crying Holy.

Why? Because the Man Christ Jesus on the Throne reveals himself again and again in a fresh way to those around the Throne. He makes himself known by new and different ways; and each time it stuns those who see Him revealed.

In heaven there is no fear of deception. There is no wondering if this is good or bad (a curse of judging between good and evil from that dumb tree in the Garden). They know this is Jesus and respond.

NOW it's here once again on our blue planet.

On earth as it is in Heaven is come. Heaven touches earth and Jesus finds new ways of reaching His precious ones. Those new ways are dubious for those with eyes blinded by religion.

Here's the Prophetic Reality. Father God is NOT going to slow down in finding new ways to reveal Himself to those who will come to Know HIM. He is going to manifest His Glory to whomever and however He can. He is going to find new ways to touch earth to seek and save those who are lost. He is doing it in the Muslim World. Not using the Old Wine skins.

Father is right NOW doing a brand new thing. MOST of the Evangelical Community and many Pentecostals will miss this move of God as they always do. It has already begin manifesting. It is glorious. It will be very different. It will be criticized. Yet, the religious will miss it like the Jews of Old did, "not recognizing Him in the day of His visitation".

Who blinds them? Satan. He will use religion, tradition, politics, power, fear and money to deceive them.

This doesn't mean those who miss God's move will go to Hell. They'll make heaven but they will mourn for the loss they have experienced.

Open your spiritual eyes. See what God is Doing RIGHT NOW. Look around you. The signs are everywhere.

I won't describe them. IF you have eyes to see and ears to hear you know what it is. IF you don't even if you are saved and heaven bound, you will pass Him by and not even see Him as so many must have when Jesus was among us in the flesh. He is constantly revealing Himself in whatever way it will take to whomever He can. It will always look different from what YOU remember from 1978, 88, 98, 08. It's a NEW day in the Spirit. Every Day is.

Do not be guilty of little faith and little regard for the move of God. Do not pass Him by. Be careful of your Criticisms of what God is doing.

He may not like it. Seek to Please the Lord.

AND that my beloved is the WORD OF THE LORD

The Wobbly Wheel

On Saturday I saw a lady driving her car on the shoulder of the road. The left front wheel was wobbling. It wasn't going to go much further. Probably ball joints.

She was trying to keep going but in a few yards the wheel came off.

People had stopped to help. Police blocked traffic until a tow truck came.

I often see these events as Subjective Prophetic. That means seeing this is a type of an event that happened or will happen. Many (most) of the time the Subjective Prophetic is for an individual, not the body at large.

BUT this one seems like a type of what is happening in our world system. We keep driving even if the wheel seems wobbly. We have to go slower even though we want to put on the gas. But the wheels are about to come off. This cannot continue. The politicians and leaders are applying band-aids to the right arm when the left one has a huge gash in it and is bleeding profusely. They are completely unable to solve any of this.

There is no solution forthcoming. Leadership in the USA and the World seems to be at a complete loss what to do.

Add to this an unstable middle east, a Muslim gangster class holding the world hostage and people unable to find any work that can sustain them at any level and the wheels are just about to come off.

There is no tow truck to come save us. There are plenty of cops to police the collapse.

If I have ever had a sense of just at the ragged edge it is right now. I didn't sleep well last night knowing that these kinds of things are impending. I'm NOT a gloom and doom prophet, but the light we look for can only come from the Bright and Morning Star. Jesus.

Everything else is fading from view or falling apart.

When a Prophet Arises so does Opposition - More about the Prophet Amos

"NOT ALL THAT SAY LORD, LORD"

Another lesson in connection with the Prophet Amos' message is that his opponents rose up from amongst those who were professedly religious--the priests. And so it was with our Lord and the Apostles. The priests and the religious teachers of their day were the chief opponents of the Gospel in its truth and purity; and we must expect the same in our day. The Truth, in proportion as it has been declared in its purity, has always roused opposition, and has always found its chief opposes amongst those who have "a form of godliness"-- but generally amongst those who lack its power.

Today's lesson is a part of the Prophet's pleading with the Israelites that they return to harmony with God and thus avert the calamities which must otherwise be expected. The history of that time shows that it was a very prosperous period, not only for Judah, but also for the ten-tribe kingdom. The prosperity was of the earthly kind. Riches were accumulated. But these were in the hands of the great; and the Prophet proceeds to warn the rich that the poor were being unjustly dealt with. He intimates that it would be from this source that the trouble would ultimately come; that the only terms upon which they could hope to live as a nation would be by seeking the Lord. It would be in vain for them to seek help at Bethel or in Gilgal or in Beersheba, the centers of their religious institutions, which were corrupt. These religious institutions would all go down in the trouble which the Prophet predicted.

The Lord Himself must be sought with an honest heart; else He would cause destruction to break out like a fire to devour the House of Joseph. The ten-tribe kingdom is here called the House of Joseph, because the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh were of preponderating influence in the nation; and these two tribes had sprung from Joseph. Hence the fire breaking out in the House of Joseph meant the destruction which would come upon the ten-tribe kingdom unless they repented.

The Prophet proceeds to particularize some of the wrongs on account of which they were in danger. Justice was not rendered in their courts. Instead of the sweets of Justice, those who appealed to their courts, if they were poor, got wormwood--that is, bitterness, disappointment. The Prophet declares that righteousness was cast down to the earth; that equity was not a matter of primary consideration. He proceeds to point out that bribery was rife; that wealth, power and influence could accomplish almost anything. There must be a turning from this condition; and relief could come only from turning to the Lord.

Are You Full Time? A Word from the Prophet Amos

Dedicated to Denise Gansmann who opened my eyes up to this.

I had a pastor friend say something recently, he said, "I don't get involved in the affairs of the world, I'm a full time pastor".

He spoke of this because of a comment I had made about the economy from an economist's standpoint. He only wanted to hear the prophetic word over the economy. Anything else seemed to be beneath him.

What is full time in the ministry? Are any of us part time? Should any of us be?

Denise sent me some videos and has blogged on the Prophet Amos.

Amos was a full time prophet who made a living taking care of sheep and cattle, growing figs and selling them in the market. In other words he was a businessman who walked in the office of the prophet full time. Just like me. Probably just like you. Look at how he answers those who question him:

Amos replied, "I'm not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I'm just a shepherd, and I take care of sycamore-fig trees. Amos 7:14 nlt

Yet Amos spoke the word of the Lord in Boldness. For that he was shunned by the religious establishment. They tried to run him out of town. Read Amos 7 and 8. It's still the same today.

Speaking with my new friend Marcus Beaver yesterday I shared this with him. Some who are "FULL TIME" look down on people like the Prophet Amos. People who make a living doing "secular" work yet walk full time in all the authority of the office. I'm that guy. Maybe you are that guy or gal. Your living comes from other than depending on gifts and offerings to support your ministry. I know this for sure, it gives me great freedom. I am NOT dependent on anyone or anything other than the provision of God as is manifested thru my business. I can be bold and fearless.

When God wanted to Bless Abraham HE didn't say, "I'll make of you a great minister with a great church and you won't ever have to do anything but pray and read the Torah except for the Sabbath when you can ascend the platform and expound loudly". That's not what God promised, he promised sheep, cattle, riches and land. And seed like the sands of the sea. He wrestled in business with his own relatives. There was all kinds of issues in business that needed to be handled. Yet he is Father Abraham to this day. His wealth and business sense gave him great influence.

We need more Amos' and fewer court prophets who live off the stipend from a king, tithes and offerings.

Here's the word of the Lord:
Don't ever be critical of the man or woman of God who makes their living by my provision. If I choose to bless them in that way, I have chosen it. They are called of ME and they are walking perfectly in the center of my call on them. If I called you to be full time it is because I chose it. If you see yourself as better because of that call, you miss what I am doing. My call is not superior or inferior based on how I have chosen to provide.

Hot House People and Katrina

I have been thinking a lot about Katrina. It's five years ago. Lots of pointing fingers. Some accurate most not.

It has been hard to put into words what I sense spiritually about why Katrina became such a disaster. What happened? It certainly was not exceptionally worse than many other disasters. Floods happen all the time. A few years ago Cedar Rapids was under water. There were floods all up and down the Mississippi River then. Huge areas and towns were completely submerged.
Tornadoes happen and wipe out whole communities as happened a few years ago in Kansas. Yet people in those areas bounced back in spite of the difficulty. WHY?

Death and destruction, often called acts of God, occur around the world.

There was an earthquake in Haiti you recall. Hundreds of thousands died.

One much much worse in Chile a month later. A thousand died.

What made the difference? Cities and states go thru economic downturns and difficulty with various successes and failures. Some like California and Illinois collapse under the pressure. Others like Nebraska and Texas not. Why?

I have been wondering. Sure I could blame politics. Leadership. Democrats. Republicans. Greedy Capitalists. Corrupt Governments. I could blame a lot of people.

The truth is I don't know who to blame. I sense I should blame the ones who build the hot house.

I got a Holy Ghost Download this morning regarding the hot house.

If in the spring early you plant seeds of plants and leave them in the hot house to grow they will prosper. They will get big. They will look healthy. A little seems to be good so leave them in longer. They seem to be doing so well.

But the hot house has problems. The bigger the plant gets in a hot house the more care and water it needs. It needs fungicides to keep the diseases off. The plants are subject to sudden invasions of voracious pests.

Worse if you take that lush green growing plant out of the house much later suddenly and subject it to the harsh sun, wind, rain storm, cold, heat and difficulty without a careful period of hardening off, the plant will die. It won't cope with the change. You were really cruel to the plant in doing this. The protection you gave killed it.

The same kind of plant from the same seed lot if grown very briefly in the hot house and quickly moved into the elements to fend for itself with a little protection will survive and prosper. It will become hardened. It might not grow quite as fast. It might look a little shop worn. But when the wind and storm come it will stand. When heat or cold descend it will prosper. In a funny way the more the plant is fussed over the worse it will get. It needs to become hardened in to survive and prosper. In fact the hot house plant will seldom bear much fruit. The hardened plant will do fine.

Those in Haiti, Many in Chicago, LA and many who suffered in Katrina had been sheltered from the storm. Didn't have to develop hardening off. When catastrophe came there was no ability to bounce back. They looked to the hot house builder to protect them. But the house was gone.

It's not about better or worse people. They all came from the same seed lot. It's about the environment they grew up in. Hardening or not. Self sufficient or dependant. Enduring or failing under pressure. Such was a sad story I saw in Chicagoland, people looking for free gimmes as a result of the Flood. HOT HOUSE PEOPLE.

Paul spoke of this:
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. Romans 5:3
Many people who are looking to the hot house builders to protect and rescue them really should thank God for their problems, rejoice in them and look to the future with greater endurance. Hardening off.

We are doing evil when we rescue people who are in the hardening off process even to the eating of pea pods in the pig pen before we should. I was rebuked for this by a prophet years ago and now I pass it along. It's not hard hearted to let life's difficulties harden people up for the future.

Record Glory Gem found in North Carolina

Emeralds are often a gem type of the glory of God.

I'll let you draw your own conclusions. I have drawn mine.

The Glory is being revealed.

(The Charlotte Observer) Miner Terry Ledford (top) and Mark Randle search a possible vein of the Carolina Emperor emerald in Hiddenite, N.C. Leford dug up the green gem, which has since been hailed North America's largest, last August.
(The Charlotte Observer) The Carolina Emperor emerald is shown next to a quarter.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Alexander County, N.C., community famed for its lunker emeralds has yielded a 64-carat gem that experts say is North America's largest cut emerald.

Gem miner Terry Ledford said the deep-green crystal he dug up in Hiddenite last August was so big it "looked like an empty 7-Up bottle." About 2 inches square, it weighed 310 carats before being cut. Its hue made it even more desirable.

"I was saying a prayer, literally, just thanking him," Ledford said. "I held it up to the sun, and it was so dark you almost couldn't see any light through it."

After having the stone cut and recut, Ledford and his partner gave the emerald a trademarked name: the Carolina Emperor.

A respected New York gemologist, C.R. "Cap" Beesley, called it "by far the largest gem ever recovered from North America and North Carolina," including rubies and sapphires. Beesley compared the Emperor to a cut emerald of similar size that sold for $1.6 million earlier this year.

"I don't know of any faceted emerald larger than this," said geologist Michael Wise of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History mineralogy division. "It's mostly difficult to get big (gem) stones, so this would be something really unusual for North America."
