Reinhard Bonnke: Why Americans Take the Holy Spirit for Granted

Reinhard Bonnke
Reinhard Bonnke
“AFRICA SHALL BE SAVED.” I heard God's message so clearly. In response my family moved from Lesotho to South Africa in 1974. But how was Africa going to be saved? Clueless, I sat with my head in my hands. As unknowns, we moved out into the unknown, with no prospects mapped out for us, hoping for further instruction from the Lord.

And sure enough, God spoke again. I was to rent the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana, for a gospel crusade. The only group willing to work with us was a church of 40 members.

I walked through the little city, not knowing how to put the loose ends together, and made a provisional booking for the stadium by faith. It was the right move.

To my disappointment the campaign began with only 100 people in attendance but then God entered the field. Before I had prayed for the sick or said anything at all about healing, my sermon was interrupted by dramatic healings. It was as if Jesus just could not wait to do His wonders! He was “itching” to start.

As a missionary I knew what it was like to preach to no more than five people at a time, but now I had 10,000 of them, with many receiving salvation and many being healed. As the news spread, the stadium filled up and the miracles of salvation and healing multiplied.

Then came another impulse from heaven: “Pray for converts to be baptized in the Holy Spirit!”

Where I come from, doing such a thing would be considered taboo-particularly in a stadium. But with my heart in my throat, I obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit. The result almost knocked me off my feet. A vast roar of praise rose to God in “other tongues” as on the Day of Pentecost.

For me, that holy hubbub became a trumpet call announcing that this was what God wanted, to let His Spirit loose, and that I was never to feel embarrassed about anything He did. That day the ministry of Christ for All Nations was born.

Under that banner a river of Holy Spirit power has attended us. Tens of millions are turning to Christ and untold multitudes are being healed.

As a result, after years during which propaganda was spread that incited hatred in Africa, a God-ward mass movement is gaining momentum across that continent and in other places around the globe. Pentecostals and charismatics now account for one in every 10 people.

The Gift of the Spirit
For 1,500 years Bible standards and beliefs have laid the foundations of life in Europe and America. But that faith has an inner dynamic-namely, the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Christ challenged His followers: “'What are you doing more than others?'” (Matt. 5:47, NIV). Why should He expect us to do more than others? Because that is what He had planned. His work, death and resurrection completed a power circuit between Earth and heaven that relied on a new source of life and change: the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, “'Ask, and it will be given to you'” (Luke 11:9, NKJV). However, He was talking about a specifi c request: “'If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!'” (Luke 11:13).

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not an option; it is essential for authentic Christianity.

Unfortunately, over the centuries the Holy Spirit became little more than a vague, mystical figure referred to in the creed; Holy Spirit truth was replaced with grace truth.

But Christ's command to ask for the Holy Spirit must be followed if we are to live the lives He intended for us. The Sermon on the Mount and the Great Commission set goals that would be impossible to reach were it not for the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.

The apostle Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13). David had said, “'By my God I can leap over a wall'” (2 Sam. 22:30), but for Paul there was absolutely nothing that could not be achieved in Christ. Jesus made the Holy Spirit an urgent requirement but assured us that “'everyone who asks receives'” (Luke 11:10).

Astonishingly, while Jesus was on Earth nobody made this request. John the Baptist, who was “sent from God” (John 1:6) to announce Christ, said, “'He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire'” (Luke 3:16), but Jesus never did that. The Gospel of John explains: “Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not been glorified” (7:39, NIV).

Previously, God's Spirit had flitted here and there for special occasions, and prophets spoke when the Spirit moved them. For long periods there was no sign of the Spirit. Then Christ ascended to heaven, and the Spirit came for the dispensation of power.

What happened 2,000 years ago on the day of Pentecost happened for me when I was a mere child. As I called on God in a church service, suddenly all heaven seemed to crowd into my small frame. Without realizing what I was doing, I began praising God in tongues I had never learned.

Soon after, in a prayer meeting conducted by my father, a force within me became stronger and stronger. I felt a powerful tingling in my hands and with it came an urge to touch a woman across the church hall. I crept over to her quietly, concerned about my father's disapproving frown. She was arthritic. I touched her, a jolt of divine life shook her, and she was healed.
I realized even at that young age that although the experience of Spirit baptism is unforgettable, imparting thrills is not God's purpose. The Holy Spirit enters human flesh and blood personally to confer divine potential on those who serve Him.

According to the Bible, the Holy Spirit indwells every born-again believer. “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Rom. 8:9, NKJV). Jesus had said, “'He dwells with you and will be in you'” (John 14:17).

But the Holy Spirit does not take up residence in us for nothing. Jesus said that this baptism, or anointing, would empower Christians to be His witnesses (see Acts 1:8). It would give them not only the boldness to share their testimonies but also the evidence-signs and wonders- to back them up.
I know that for some Christianity is only a perfunctory, mechanical routine. Like the brilliance of old master paintings covered with layers of varnish, it loses its pristine color as layers of religiosity and formality are imposed on it.

But the Holy Spirit makes debates and arguments about miracles unnecessary because He does what people try to deny! Year after year, for weeks at a time, in the teeming multitudes of our campaigns God is at work.

We bulldoze vast acres of land to make room for people to stand. Torrents of people pour in and listen breathlessly to the gospel, responding to its call often by the hundreds of thousands. In one meeting more than 1.5 million gathered, with more than 1 million coming to Christ. It is beyond anything that has occurred in previous history. The explanation has to be God's Spirit.

Along with the conversions, many miracles occur. On one occasion, a mentally deranged man was brought to a campaign service. While I was preaching, he suddenly looked around, restored to his right mind, dementia gone, and asked in bewilderment where he was and why.

Then a pregnant mother came to a mass campaign. She carried in her womb an unborn baby who had been confirmed dead and was to be removed by surgery the next day. During the healing session she screamed-the infant had moved. She came forward to tell us. A healthy son was born a few hours later.

A few years ago a far more awesome healing occurred in Nigeria. I was preaching, and a man named Daniel was brought in and laid in an adjoining room. A medical doctor had certified him dead and a mortician had embalmed him.

Suddenly he began to breathe again! There were more than 10,000 people present to witness the miracle. Now a fit man, he visited the United States last year. Christianity began with power signs such as these and continues to spread as a result of them.

Physical Response to Supernatural Influence
The Holy Spirit has many operations beyond conversion. The baptism in the Spirit is an extension of His initial work in us. He overflows both body and spirit, physical and spiritual.

I recall driving alone in Africa one day and suddenly realizing that the vehicle I was in was full of God. I was overwhelmed by glory and light, lost to what I was doing. The car went on, presumably driven by angel hands.

My 176-pound body seemed fragile under the weight of the presence of God as self-consciousness turned to God-consciousness. He helped me to understand how the Spirit can impact audiences even when they are so huge they stretch out of my sight. I saw that one man is nothing, but when God is with him, he is everything.

Scripture asks, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor. 3:16). Spirit baptism is more than a subjective belief. Onlookers in the days of the apostles saw the evidence of it (see Acts 8:18, for example).

Paul described the experience of the first Christians of Colosse as “being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance” (Col. 1:11, NIV). He added his own testimony, saying that his “struggle” for the gospel was “with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me” (Col. 1:29).

At times, signs of New Testament exuberance have been scorned as “enthusiasm”- in the sense of frantic possession by a supernatural force. But we have to acknowledge that baptism in the Spirit is physical as well as profoundly spiritual. Speaking in tongues, for example, is the ideal evidence and sign of God's physical indwelling.

For some, tongues are offensive. Human instinct protests against that kind of personal invasion. But God made us to be integrated into His being. Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man, was the supreme example of the perfect man, God in the flesh. Scripture calls it a mystery; yet baptism in the Holy Spirit opens up heavenly mysteries.

We are warned not to despise the gifts of God. Anything God gives-including tongues-is a wonderful privilege to enjoy.

Holy Spirit baptism is not only a privilege but also the secret of the present world revival, the greatest expansion of the Christian faith since apostolic times. It is proof that the Lord is keeping His promise to “pour water on the thirsty land” (Is. 44:3).

Kent Simpson: Angels Being Sent Forth to Minister to You

Angels are being appointed today; they are being sent forth to minister for you.

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12

Over the past week, many have received an impartation of one or more of the spiritual gifts through His Word being prophesied "which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands" (Timothy 4:14). Being I am not able to physically lay hands upon those who have received their prophecy via email or on CD, our Lord has made some very unusual exceptions. For years I have had wonderful testimonies from people whom I have prayed over handkerchiefs for and mailed to them to cast out demons and heal their sickness.

Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.
Acts 19:11-12

Now God is having me prophesy over His people, appointing a ministering spirit/angel to minister in a specific spiritual gift for that person whom God has so elected. Here is the part that is most exciting: in most of these prophesies, He is giving the spiritual gifts through the prophecy and commissioning the angel to go to them and lay hands upon them, i.e. imparting the spiritual gift. Now isn't that just out of the park! He is not using a human to impart the gift, but the angel that has been commissioned to minister for that person who received the prophecy in the spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit. People, we are in for a Rockin' Awesome move of God!
A Massive Outpouring of Love and Power
These spiritual gifts are listed in 1 Corinthians. Another thing I have noticed is the variety of ministries that are being prophesied into existence are very unusual. These new ministries being birthed are nothing like anything we have ever seen before.
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

It is so obvious that the Holy Spirit is equipping the saints of God for a massive outpouring of God's love and power. This past week I heard three "brand name" preachers touch upon the need for angels. The connection between the angels, also known as ministering spirits, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are coming more into focus. I was shown by the Holy Spirit a number of years ago about the variety of angels and how they effectively minister in various gifts of the Holy Spirit. You will be hearing more about this from other ministers as the days go by, for this revelation is huge and sweeping across the nations.

But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?" Hebrews 1:13-14
If the Holy Spirit is tugging on your heart to seek a word of prophecy it could be because He has a spiritual gift that He wants to impart into you to establish your ministry.

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—"
Romans 1:11
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Romans 11:29

They cannot ever be taken away from you. Be not foolish, however, with this new found power from God. For He is faithful to His Word and He will not take the gift from you; however, if you harm His people or abuse them in any way He will simply remove you from the face of the earth.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

Dark in the Day

It's 8AM  Sunday.  The photocell light trigger lamp in our front yard is on.  It's designed to go on only when it's dark enough.  It should be day, but it's dark at least as the light trigger knows.

That's the way it is in the spirit.  Seems dark.  Seems like light is held back.  Yet, if you consult the clock, it's day.  The trigger is tripped, but it's not due to the clock, it's due to conditions.

I must remember that even if it's dark to my vision and viewpoint, it's light in the Kairos of God.

And that's what really matters...no matter what I see.

A word for 2013: PERILOUS TIMES: A GLORY TO BE SEEN By Henry Falcone

Beloved, I share with you what I believe I heard from the Lord for 2013. Pray over it and discern it for yourselves in the Holy Spirit to get a witness to it.

A Word for 2013: Perilous times: A glory to be seen upon us!

In these troubled times we live in, we are warned that in the "last days there would be perilous times, hard to deal with and hard to bear." As you can see from the events that happened this week in CT and other parts of the country that the devil "knows his time is short."

I wish I could say things are going to get better, but that would be a lie. Events of the end times are going to unfold more and more in the coming year 2013 that will make what we have seen seem like very little to what is about to come.

But in this we will not fear! God is preparing a people that are about to arise and shine for their light has come and the Glory of the Lord shall be seen upon them.

Yes, beloved in the midst of this pain and suffering and intense trials that is about to come upon the earth. God will have a people.

A people who will walk in the power of God like Moses, Joshua, Esther, Deborah, David, Peter, John, James, Steven, Martin Luther, Jonathan Edwards, Andrew Murray, Brother Lawrence, Madam Guyone, Smith Wigglesworth, Kathryn Kuhlman, Oswald Chambers, Wade Taylor, and our savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Plus all those who are in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11.

I hope that list will include you and me as the over-comers and Bride of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Man-Child, full mature ones that are going to preach the Kingdom of God is at hand in the greatest power of God the world has ever seen.

We are destined to "rule and reign with him" forever and ever and in the Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ.

These trials and hard to deal with times are coming, but if we have allowed the Lord to be the rock of our life, the strength of our life and the very essence of who we are, as He overcame the world, SO WILL WE! Jesus said that not me!

He said, "the works I do you shall also do, and ever greater works than these shall you do because I go to the Father. In Revelation chapter 2 and 3 it says, "to he that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, I will give him a new name and a white stone, and given him power to rule over the nations with an iron rod, and to be seated next to Him as He is seated next to the Father. The Lord says, "I will allow him to eat the hidden manna in the midst of the garden."

Does that seem like we are going to fail to you? Does that sound we are going to be overcome, or will we be over-comers?

Beloved, Don't be discouraged. The trial of our faith is more precious that Gold, and when patience has its perfect work in us, we WILL LACK NOTHING!

Aren't you glad for Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not lack." The Lord is our Good Shepherd and He loves us so much. How about His word says, "Greater is He that is in us, than He that is in the world. Luke 10:19 says, "Behold, I give you power to tread upon scorpions and serpents, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing in any means shall harm you. "

This year of 2013, Psalm 91 will be a reality to us in ways the Lord truly intended them to be. He will keep us safe in the mist of the trial that will come upon the earth. He promised this to the church of Philadelphia remnant.

We are not going to lose, but we will win. Even if we are martyred for His sake, we still win! So Beloveds of the Lord, take heart this Christmas season not just to see a baby born 2000 years ago, but that King of Glory is going to be seen in our midst, and He is coming back as the Roaring Lion of the Tribe of Judah and that Lion lives in you.

He is our victorious King and we are victors through Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember that as we enter this Holiday Season and the New Year. 2013 the Bride, the remnant, the over-comers, the man-child, are about to see the "greater is He" manifested in our lives like never before.

Beloved, all the fears and doubts in our hearts are about to be melted away by the Glory of the Lord that shall arise upon us, and it will "literally" be seen upon us as Isaiah prophesied. It will be seen upon us just as it was seen upon the face of Moses.

2013 is going to be a year of great empowerment and new dimensions of His Invisible Glory are going to be revealed in those who are making themselves ready. 2013 we will see His bride be "permitted to wear the white robe He has prepared for her."

That gown (robe) is not just a sign of purity, but the dress of authority to walk along our Bridegroom King Jesus in His Glory, Power and Dominion." It is the perfect garment that matches his white robes of His Holiness and power as well.

His Glory is about to seen upon us! His will shall be done on earth as it is heaven. We are about to see the manifestation of the Ezekiel's wheel within a wheel. The movement of heaven and earth are going to be synchronized within the "remnant of God" who will be the wise virgins of this hour.

The true army of the Lord will begin to be seen in every nation as a "witness" then the end will come." They will not be "doing witnessing," THEY WILL BE A LIVING WITNESS AND TESTIMONY OF THE GLORY OF JESUS CHRIST UPON THE EARTH!

His Glory shall fill all the earth, AND IT WILL BE SEEN UPON US! THIS IS A FACT! THIS IS HIS WORD! NATIONS ARE GOING TO COME TO OUR ARISING! THIS IS A FACT! GOD SAID IT! IT WILL HAPPEN.

We just must not stop now, or turn back, or be discouraged by what we see happening in this world. PERILOUS THINGS ARE BEING RELEASED NOW AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT 2013!

These sign will actually point to His Bride maturity coming forth, and the day of the Bride and Bridegroom to be seen upon the earth. The kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our Lord and Christ.

The Lord is positioning and repositioning His Body parts to be in divine arrangement and divine connections. Each part will supply what the other needs. A deeper love amongst these arranged and rearranged ones will be a testimony of Jesus Christ. The world will begin to know that we are His disciples by the love we have one for the other.

The trials and pressure will force us to love each other beyond anything we have ever seen and experienced since the day of Pentecost, but the love bonds that God will bring forth will also be the "instrument" that will release the greatest signs, wonders and miracles we have ever seen, witnessed or done!

Yes, new relationships are going to be birthed by this rearrangement that God had to keep secret until now. New leadership in the House of God is going to come forth, and the leadership of Saul is about to come to abrupt end in the House of God. 2013 will begin to accelerate that very work.

The real and genuine apostolic calling will also become more visible in 2013. Many have called themselves "apostles" and thy are not, but liars as the Word of God says. Many of them have misled God's people to build a babel instead of establishing God's kingdom, and they will be exposed to be what they are truly are, liars!

The true Apostles won't have a title, or a calling card, or a desire to build an organization, but they will have such "power from the Lord" to build His house like we have never seen." They will surely overturn the money changers and lenders in God's house.

These true apostles will bring true order to God's house so it can walk in true apostolic power and authority.

There will be many that will oppose this move of God and even the true apostles that God has risen up.The spirit of religion and Jezebel will rise up in the house of God to oppose the true Apostles, but these Apostles will have the Spirit of Joshua and Jehu in them and will defeat the enemies of God in His house.

God is about to remove, reduce the ones that have selected themselves or promoted themselves as being "something" they are not. God is bringing forth the genuine in the midst of the counterfeit He has chosen the one's that our the least and the weakest in their own strength to confound the wise and strong. This new breed of leadership will have the heart of the true shepherd, and they will walk in such a realm of glory their shadow will be filled like Peter's was.

So the shifting that began in 2012 will accelerate in 2013 specially the first half of the year. Things will be aligned by the summer of 2013 for what the Lord intends to do in His bride to come forth. It will not come forth without great trials and pressures. It will not be easy, but the harder it gets, the more power and anointing we will walk in.

Where sin abounds, grace so much more abounds. In weakness, God's power is strong.

The pressure will empty us more, break us more, and cause a deeper cry for the deep of God in us, but it will also empower us with Glory like nothing else ever could and great faith will be released in us to do the greatest exploits for the Kingdom of God since the book of acts and the days of Moses.

Don't be discouraged during the pressure. Don't quit! Don't look back like Lot's wife, but be concentrated on the Lord of Host who goes before us. This is the day of miracles but so much more. It is the day of the invisible Glory of the Lord to be seen in the visible upon those who have made themselves ready.

So rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. The time of all things to be revealed is coming upon us. 2013 will be the year of empowerment and new dimensions of Glory to seen upon us!

Selah!

The evil result of discouragement by Dr. Daniel Olukoya

Image
Whenever you are discouraged, seven tragedies happen and I am using this medium, as a prophet, to caution you over them. You need to avoid such statements as, ‘another year has just gone, I am praying and nothing has happened yet’. No beloved, don’t say such things again; they are dangerous statements as far as divine order is concerned. Heaven is definitely working out something as long as you are sincere in the place of prayer.
YOU START PRAYING THE WRONG PRAYERS.
1 Kings 19:4
‘But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
YOU SAY THE WRONG THINGS.
 Job 3:3
‘Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.’
YOU BEGIN TO THINK THE WRONG THINGS.
That’s what happened to John the Baptist when he sent somebody to Jesus to find out whether He was the Messiah or not. This was a pure work of discouragement. He had met Jesus before when he baptised Him and there was a sign evident that Jesus was the Messiah. But because his expectations about his knowledge of the Messiah were not satisfied, he was discouraged and doubted Jesus as the Messiah.
YOU DO THE WRONG THINGS.
In Numbers 20, you see Moses smiting the rock instead of speaking to it. When a man does the wrong things it simply means he is under the control of something different from himself. When the spirit of discouragement enters the heart, it holds it and directs it to any desired direction and in most cases, it takes it to the wrong end.
YOU BEGIN TO SEE THE WRONG THINGS.
You begin to see difficulties instead of God’s power. The twelve men that went to spy the Promised Land came back with the scary news that there were giants there. They saw giants instead of God because they were discouraged by the height of the giants and they saw the impossibility of conquering them.
YOU END UP IN A WRONG DESTINATION.
Jonah eventually ended up in the belly of the fish because of discouragement.
YOU ALLOW AN ARRAY OF FIFTEEN WRONG SPIRITS TO ENTER YOU.
By this, you can see why the devil refers to discouragement as his most useful weapon; he uses it to evoke fifteen different wrong spirits and they are:
Watch-out to read about the 15 Wrongs Spirit!
Dr. Daniel Olukoya

That Vision you Think is Fantasy may be FROM GOD

I dream too small.  I am a northern European.  We tend to be stoic, conservative and work hard at maintaining common sense.  Not always are we successful, but many times we are, to our detriment.

This morning I was given a dream.  It's pretty fantastic. Way out there.  YET... dreamers have those.  I dream.

In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17

When I tried to use my reason to modify my dreaming... the Lord said, "Don't kill the dream I placed in you".   I don't know how that will manifest. I am willing to walk it out.

The dream holds me.

The Lord places dreams in your heart, not crazy big; just God Sized.  Bigger than you.  Bigger than me.

Don't kill the Dream...it's a gift from the Giver of Life.

"I read the final chapter and God Wins" is wrong theology

You know how you see all the time, "I read the final chapter and God Wins".

I was thinking about the fallacy of all that.  It's like there is some contest and there is a chance for loss.  Not so.  It should be better said, "I have read the whole book and God WON."

The defeat of the enemy was already accomplished.  There is no rematch.  NOW, like a wounded dying animal, the enemy of MAN contests with him to try to get him to share in his defeated destiny.  Lake of fire.  Eternal Damnation.

Some people who think the war is on are deluded into thinking THEY have to win.  NO, HE carries a banner as a parade of victors in life proceed making mockery of the demons of hell.  You can leave the procession...but you do so at your own risk.  Stay in the boat, stay in your lane, stay the course, run the race and finish well.

The victory is already yours.
