Prayer doesn't have to be drudgery.... it can be fun (really)

If you had a good dad, you enjoyed talking with him.  Hearing from him.   Spending time with him.  More important as a father I enjoy time with my children.

Yet too many people make prayer a dirge.  A time of asking Father for this or that.  Sure we thank him, but we can celebrate all that HE is for us.  Joy can be our portion in prayer.  Like our earthly Father we were meant to enjoy our time with Father God.  I imagine sometimes Jesus by himself in fellowship with the Father in prayer broke out laughing out loud.

This is not lost on Hadassic Jews.  They enjoy their prayer times.  They dance, chant, sing, bob, weave, run and laugh.  It's should be a joy to be in the presence of God.  Not drudgery.

This is particularly true of times when a large group of people enter into times of praying in the spirit LOUD.  I have called it a STRONG TONGUE.  Joining in that flow is like being caught up in a raging river and enjoying the ride.

Last night I was blessed to be part of just such a prayer meeting.  It's been a long time.  It used to be something we did every Monday night for years at Todd Beery's house.  Some of those times were intense, sometimes they were funny, sometimes a thrill. Prayer should be that.

I have been reluctant to be part of most prayer meetings because frankly they can be boring and insipid.  This was not that.

Thank God for Freedom.
