God is NOT in Control

The doctrine of Sovereignty is badly taught and poorly understood.  Let me try to help.  It's important so we can understand our role on the earth as the Body of Christ.

Psalm 8 is a good place to start.  Of course it roots back in Genesis. It was originally intended that MAN be in control of all creation as an extension of God's hand.  But man ceded control to the god of this world.  Satan.

The Kingdom is here, it is not seen by the naked eye. It is as real as any Kingdom ever was or is.  Those in the Kingdom are given the right to operate their portion of the Kingdom in the best interest of the King.  The good news is the Kingdom is ever expanding.  So in that way God is in control as we are obedient to his will.

A good way to understand this is to think about ownership.  God is the OWNER of all.  He is Supreme.  But He is NOT in control.  There is a building near us that is owned by a local businessman.  He owns  it but he does not Control it.  That building has been, A bar, a shoe store, a small ethnic grocery, a dry cleaner and is presently a sandwich shop. IF that shop closes up it might be a cannabis dispensary or even a porn shop.  All owned by one man but none of what goes on there is controlled by him.  He is a moral man and a friend of mine, he might not allow the last two..but the example holds.

So God is owner of all. He has however leased it as it were to man, who messed up and sublet it to satan.  Now we must take back the ground that is owned by God but despoiled by sin.  Jesus paid the price for our sin, and for the sin of the whole world, but we are the ones on the front lines to take back territory occupied (Leased if you will) from satan.

Does God intervene?  Yes from time to time, but He expects those who are called by his name to act faithfully in his behalf.  Angels are sometimes on assignment to help. The Holy Spirit is present and directs our hands in Love to do the will of the Father. We are in that way like Jesus, Doing the will of the Father who sent us.

This is why the idea that God is going to send Jesus on a white horse to destroy the works of the enemy with an angel army is so wrongheaded.  HE ALREADY DID.  The works of the enemy are destroyed.  It is finished.  The verdict is in.

Now it's us.  We are the called of God.  We have our own white horse.  We are on assignment by the power of the Holy Spirit with the help of the angel armies to push back the darkness wherever it arises.  We like that landlord, some tenants just don't fit the Lessor's plan.  We are responsible to evict them.
