That is the curse. The fallen creation. That is why Christ became a curse, so we can be forgiven AND free from the curse of sin. Punishment will be on Judgment Day. Right now, it is more like eating consequences to our sins. Just as gravity is the consequence when you jump of a roof. It seems kind of archaic for God to need to curse anyone when he ultimately has the final say in our mortal lives. Does he use it as a punishment? If so, why? What purpose would it serve Him?
